| | Loudness Thunder In The East CD (1985)
Crisis/Reinvention music CDs
$10.65 Loudness was a Japanese hard rock quartet that had numerous hit albums in the 80's and early 90's. Thunder In The East reached number 74 on the Billboard charts in 1985. Wounded Bird. 2003.
With 1985's Thunder in the East, Loudness were faced with the daunting challenge of conquering heavy metal fans outside their homeland of Japan for the first time. Knowing that their early sound might prove a tad too heavy and complex for American audiences, the foursome rose to the occasion by dispensing their most melodic compositions ever. Yet, except for a few obvious examples, like "We Could Be Together," first single "Crazy Nights," and the power ballad "Never Change Your Mind," the band doesn't seem at all self-conscious about this transition. A few all-out headbangers like "Get Away" and "Clockwork Toy" are hammered out for ...

| | Dio Holy Diver CD (1983)
Crisis/Reinvention album
$7.55 Despite recording two hit studio albums with Black Sabbath (1980's HEAVEN AND HELL and 1981's THE MOB RULES) and playing throughout the world to huge crowds, Ronnie James Dio left the band in 1982-the year of his final release with Sabbath, the in-concert LIVE EVIL. As soon as the announcement of his departure was made official, Dio began ...
| | Judas Priest Screaming For Vengeance CD (1982)
Crisis/Reinvention CD music
$6.75 Also available in a 3-pack with BRITISH STEEL and POINT OF ENTRY.
In the early '80s, a new musical movement, dubbed "The New Wave of British Metal," swept across England. The conspirators include such heavy bands as Iron Maiden, Motorhead, Saxon, and Def Leppard, but Judas Priest is often credited as the originator and leader of the pack. Rob Halford's vocal histrionics and the dual guitar attack of K.K. Downing and Glen Tipton mesmerized metal-heads everywhere. ...

| | In The Nursery Scatter CD (1995) Import
Crisis/Reinvention songs
$18.59 Scatter is that rare beast among career-spanning compilations, a collection that both serves as an excellent introduction to the band's oeuvre, and packed with enough fine obscurities and new treats to make it equally essential for longtime fans. Following no particular chronological course, Scatter runs from the first releases up to the then-most-recent, sometimes in unexpected ways. "Mystery," from the debut EP release of ITN's post-punk guitar days, receives a radical sonic update and remix as "Mystere" to match more current ITN sounds, and does so with both power and drama. Other new remixes include an even lovelier version of Duality's "Belle Epoque," "Twins," and Sense's "Sixth Sense," while the rarities include "Epitaph," "Seraphic," and a remix of "Workcorps," all from long deleted compilations, and all quite good indeed. An ...

| | Celtic Frost Into The Pandemonium CD (1987)
Crisis/Reinvention music CDs
$10.45 Having already cornered the market on hellacious riffs, war-god-channeling rhythms, and darkly mythological lyrics, Celtic Frost could have stayed the course for their third record. They do no such thing. This 1987 death metal classic showcases a band with a wildly ambitious sonic palette--from classical overtures to pulverizing metal riffs--and the chops and vision to unify the expanding extremes.
Vocalist/guitarist ...

Crisis/Reinvention album
$17.15 Kate sings, Jadey plays piano. It's Jane Vs World. Their debut EP is called 56k Hearts, with the title referring to the dial-up modem speed. The songs are about Internet love, early-life crises, bad poetry, favourite books and boys.'Boys are cool,' Kate says, 'apart from the ones we write songs about. 'Kate and Jadey met on the Net. Recovering from a break-up, Kate poured her heart into her Live Journal. Her interests - including Ben Folds Five, Fountains Of Wayne and Letters To Cleo - were linked to an entry by a Brisbane girl. The clincher was American singer-songwriter Brendan Benson. 'Jadey's Live Journal had a photo of her holding some Brendan Benson vinyl she'd just bought on eBay,' Kate recalls. 'I thought, 'That's so cool!''Kate and Jadey started chatting on MSN. It led to a five-hour phone call, during which Jadey played Kate some of her songs, and Kate played Jadey some of her songs. 'I want to start a band with you!' Kate said. 'Okay,' Jadey replied, 'I'll move to Melbourne. 'Jadey completed her university thesis on power pop, relocated to Melbourne, and Jane Vs World was born. They recorded 56k Hearts in Sydney at Love Hz Studios with pop god Michael Carpenter and Butterfly 9's Matt Fell. 'It was like we were on school camp,' Jadey recalls. 'And because ...
