Pappo-Jaf-Vitico-Moro
$12.09 The very first moments of Rodrigo y Gabriela's sophomore effort, 11:11, hit the listener cold in the face, and not just because of the amazing guitar playing. Sure, it's there, but it's what anyone who heard the duo's astonishing debut would expect. No, it's the sound of the record: immediate, forceful, crystalline; it's in-your-face compelling and impossible to ignore. 11:11 features ...

Pappo-Jaf-Vitico-Moro
$14.59 RIVERDANCE won the 1997 Grammy Award for Best Musical Show Album.
The Grammy Award-winning soundtrack to the popular Riverdance stage show has been re-released with a bonus remix of "Riverdance," as well as deluxe packaging which includes photographs from the show. Bill Whelan, who has worked for twenty years as a composer, producer, and arranger (his credits include work for Kate Bush, Hothouse Flowers, Van Morrison, and U2, among others), achieved international recognition for RIVERDANCE.
Whelan incorporates a variety of ethnic musical traditions as well as modern and choral music and the hypnotic, rhythmic hard-shoe Irish dancing for which RIVERDANCE is famous. This album traverses the continents, assembling an amazing group of international and Irish musicians. Standouts include the Irish choral group Anuna performing "Shivna," a haunting piece whose Irish lyrics are based on an 11th Century text.
Recorded at Windmill Lane Studios, Dublin, ...

| | Amethystium Odonata CD (2001)
Pappo-Jaf-Vitico-Moro
$12.75 This is the debut album from Amethystium which received a groundswell of support from online listeners, to the tune of a half million downloads before its official release. The album is attributed to Oystein Ramfjord, a composer from Norway who makes ambient electronic music full of mystifying sounds. The opening song, "Opaque," begins with an incredible underwater sonar pulse that makes way for passages of Indian vocals that are very reminiscent of Deep Forest. In fact, most songs employ well-crafted samples of ethnic music from disparate regions. These are held together by a steady synth percussion and sweeping vocals. ...
| | Cramps Bad Music For Bad People CD (1984)
Pappo-Jaf-Vitico-Moro
$7.99 Among the standouts from this collection of classics are the positively inspiring "New Kind of Kick," the obnoxiously entertaining "She Said," and the seriously un-PC "Drug Train." The first is a sneering, sleaze-ride through a forest of heavily distorted guitars and pounding percussion. On the second, Nick Knox's drumming pummels along while Interior sings lyrics best heard for yourself (oddly enough, the song is a cover!) with his mouth full of cotton wool. And "Drug Train" features clapping, call-and-response vocals, and a guitar line designed especially for air guitarists the world over. Listening to the Cramps, it is possible to imagine why our parent's parents thought rock & roll was a dangerous influence.
BAD MUSIC FOR BAD PEOPLE is a compilation of songs from the first two Cramps albums--SONGS THE LORD TAUGHT US and PSYCHEDELIC JUNGLE--as well as some tracks from concurrent singles. It consists of five originals and six impeccably ...
| | Deep Puddle Dynamics Taste Of Rain CD (2002)
Pappo-Jaf-Vitico-Moro
$11.45 A ragtag collective of bugged-out, "savant-garde" rappers and trash-can producers known as Anticon -- short for anticonformist -- was born with the recording of The Taste of Rain...Why Kneel, and with it arose a clandestine revolution of anarchic, D.I.Y. hip-hop. Descending "from the outskirts of obscurity" (as the opening moments of "Deep Puddle Theme Song" explain) and converging -- by way of Cincinnati, the suburbs of Chicago, and Portland, ME -- in the Minneapolis living room of Atmosphere's Slug on June 26, 1998 (and in Chicago a year later to the day), the nine-member-strong Deep Puddle Dynamics helped to spark one of the most interesting millennial movements in rap music with this debut album. Compared to some of the efforts that were soon to come from the Anticon stable (as well as from fellow nonconformists at Rhymesayers and Definitive Jux), The Taste of Rain doesn't flaunt rap conventions too dramatically. But then, "conventional" is always a relative term when applied to such an iconoclastic amalgam of artists. In Anticon's case, it means KRS-One, hip-hop's moral and ethical exemplar, is quoted alongside former Supreme Court Justice Oliver Wendell Holmes, for instance, so normal does not apply by any traditional connotation. Nevertheless, ...
