2007 digitally remastered 2CD deluxe edition of the album classic that was remastered by Alan Parsons himself and partner Eric Woolfson. This special package includes the remastered original 1976 edition, the 1987 remix (which incorporated dialogue by Orson Welles!) and 8 previously unreleased tracks. Recorded at Abbey Road in 1975 and released in 1976, the idea for the Alan Parsons Project came from manager and writer Eric Woolfson, who saw his role as an auteur, bringing together some of the greatest talents in music to bring to life to Edgar Allan Poe’s sinister, gothic tales. Woolfson enlisted the white-hot production whiz-kid, fresh from his work with Wings and Pink Floyd, to set about making dreams reality. This spectacular debut recording remains a singular, compelling Rock musical work that was a clearly logical step for Parsons to take on his own after the accolades of "Dark Side Of The Moon".

This reissue includes a prologue featuring Orson Welles that was not used on the original release, as well as newly recorded drums, guitar and synthesizer parts.

The maiden voyage of the Alan Parsons Project, 1976's TALES OF MYSTERY & IMAGINATION, finds Parsons paying homage to the thrilling work of suspense legend Edgar Allan Poe. Although such an ambitious undertaking would likely be a disaster for most debuting artists, Parsons had engineered albums by the Beatles and Pink Floyd, making the British musician more than familiar with adventurous, highly textured records.
TALES opens with no less than film legend Orson Welles providing narration over Parsons's mesmerizing melody for "A Dream Within a Dream," while "The Raven" and "(The System of) Doctor Tarr and Professor Fether" prove to be the most pop-oriented tracks on the album, employing electronically treated vocals and prog-rock pomp and circumstance to convey the arch strangeness of these stories. Much of TALES consists of keyboard-driven instrumentals that capture the suspenseful nature of Poe's work, most notably the haunting "Intermezzo"
