| | Five Finger Death Punch War Is The Answer CD (2009)
Angelstation
$11.59 Five Finger Death Punch stormed rock radio in 2007 with "The Bleeding" (from debut album THE WAY OF THE FIST), a powerful, emotionally tense track that matched vintage, Metallica-style thrash with a throat-shredding chorus more typical of late aughts metalcore. The Los Angeles-based band's sophomore disc WAR IS THE ANSWER mines much of the same territory as that breakout song, keeping the flame of the classic `80s Four Horsemen sound alive with snap-tight chugga-chugga guitar rhythms, minor-key, classical music-inspired clean/acoustic passages, and vocals dripping ...
| | Between The Buried And Me The Great Misdirect CD (2009)
Angelstation
$11.49 After Between the Buried and Me pushed metalcore purists away with their most progressive release, COLORS, they decided to push even harder for their fifth release. A diverse outing with an unruly amount of genres crammed into only six songs, THE GREAT MISDIRECT is a highly adventurous, very convoluted, wildly dynamic, and extremely difficult listen. Briggs, Waring, Rogers, Waggoner, and Richardson are in top form, with their ...

Angelstation
$10.49 Live & Learn, Bobby Watson's Palmetto debut, is an engaging quintet disc featuring Orrin Evans on piano, Greg Skaff on guitar, old friend Curtis Lundy on bass, and up and comer Montez Coleman on drums. It's a high-spirited record, melding hard bop ("River Jordan," Pamela Watson's "Stanky P," Dawn Warren's "Why Not") with more soul-tinged ...
| | Iron Maiden Real Dead One CD (1993) Vinyl Replica; Limited Edition; Digipak
Angelstation
$13.05 To coincide with Bruce Dickinson's final tour with Iron Maiden, the band issued A REAL DEAD ONE, a follow-up to its classic 1985 live album, LIVE AFTER DEATH. Comprised entirely of material from 1986's SOMEWHERE IN TIME and releases thereafter, the live set contains renditions of many of Maiden's U.K. hit singles from the era. While some tracks are noticeably absent ("Infinite Dreams," "Wasted Years," etc.), many of Maiden's best tracks are included, such as "Be Quick or Be Dead," "Can I Play ...

| | Notorious Elkins CD (2008)
Angelstation
$11.39 Have you ever had one of those experiences which you knew could not be repeated? For example, the first time you ate at a particular restaurant and everything was just right, but when you returned later, it just wasn't the same. Oh it was good, but the first time cannot be topped. Well such is NOT the case with the latest CD from Notorious -- Elkins. When I first received this CD from Larry Unger I was a little leery upon noticing the duo had become a quartet. Their previous CD (review) simply amazed and astounded me with their fine musicianship, original tunes, and overall professionalism and quality. The sound Notorious puts out as a duo is just amazing. Really I saw no need to expand the band. So upon putting Elkins in the player, my fingers were crossed hoping they had not "fixed what was not broken."Wow! The magic is still there and even more! With the addition of Sam Bartlett and Mark Hellenberg, new dimensions of music have opened for Notorious. You will be pleasantly whisked away by this quartet on another great collection of original and traditional tunes of various sorts, from swing to blues, to old timey and Eastern European, with some very masterful playing by all, including some beautiful vocals by Eden. I'll not elaborate on each and every tune. You as a listener can take the journey of discovery yourself. But the Larry Unger original Rodeo Clown Rag is one of my favorites. And again, as before, Notorious has ended this project with a soothing fiddle and guitar duo of Snow On Deer Mountain, composed by Eden and Larry. What a great way to end another exquisite experience with Notorious. Thank you Larry, Eden, Sam, and Mark! I look forward to see what is next.by Nathan Sanders, Stringband.com------------------------Quite outstanding American string band music led by exciting fiddle player and vocalist Eden MacAdam-Somer. She is joined amongst others by Larry Unger on guitar and banjo who, like Somer, contributes original songs and tunes to the mix. Superbly played, and even the new tunes sounddeliciously old. ( f roots magazine)------------------------------------------- Michael Huebner -- The Birmingham NewsAs fine a tunesmith, banjoist and guitarist as Larry Unger is, the other half of Notorious stole the show at the duo's set at Music Oasis. Eden MacAdam-Somer is a remarkable musician. Violinist, fiddler (there's a difference), Appalachian flat-footed clogger and vocalist, she bowed, plucked and danced up a storm, Unger contributing harmony, rhythm, musical ambiance and style. And style there was -- ...
