Joy is a heartbreakingly unforgettable character with a dysfunctional family. Her mom nags her to lose weight and find a husband; Her uptight brother loses his job, but refuses to face reality; her dad is handicapped, with a weak bladder. Joy has been exploited by her boss and by her married boyfriend. Just when her life seems on a one way course to nowhere, Joy finds a glimmer of hope when she is accepted for a TV reality show Sigalit Fuchs, Tal Friedman, Keren Mor, Yossi Pollak, Rivka Michaeli, Alexander Senderovich and Dorit Bar-Or star. Guest appearance by Michal Yanai. This drama from Julie Shles (AFULA EXPRESS) picked up five statues at the Israeli Academy Awards for its depiction of a woman's less-than-lucky life. The title character's existence doesn't quite live up to her name. Surrounded by an unsupportive family, a difficult boss, and a married boyfriend, Joy realizes the world isn't so bad when she gets to be on a reality show. In Hebrew with English subtitles.
