not what I expected The Emerson Quartet plays these quartets efficiently, but I do not get the depth of feeling that lies in performances of this music by the Borodin, Cleveland, or Berg (Teldec) Quartets. It's good to have Fleisher back in two-handed form, but I missed the intensity that he displayed in his long-discontinued version with the Juilliard Quartet, or that you find in the Richter/Borodin version. Throughout, the two violinists sound scrawny, and I had the impression that they were recorded too closely and reverb was added later. Submitted by Peter (Ohio) Was This Review Helpful?
