The First Time I Heard Doom Was Amazing I Knew What I Heard was Something Special The Breakdowns, The Pig Squeal Everything About It Was Crushing And Then Genesis Came Along And That Proved To Me That A Young Band Barely Out Of High School And On The Cusp Of A Major Label Deal Knew The Power Of Evolving., Beyond All This Tripe That Is Being Played On The Radio. So All You Posers With A So-Called Ear For Metal Go Back To Kindergarten And Listen To Nonsense Like All The Emo That Is Famous And Realize That It Doesn't Hold Anything Against The Power Of Metal And It's Legions Of Fans

 WAY BETTER THAN DOOM YOU NOOBS
anyone and i mean anyone who likes doom better then this is an emo....i don't care their emo case closed!!!!! genesis is miles above doom!!!! breakdowns are the most irritating thing and should have never been thought ov i hate them more then anything, and with this cd its gone completely!!!!! at first i hated them because ov doom and now i actualy don't mind them, don't get me wrong the band itself isn't anything special but this cd is WAY better then doom.... if you like JFAC i would suggest listening to BENEATH THE MASSACRE and a band i absolutely love ANNOTATIONS OF AN AUTOPSY both are exelent and offer a bit more then these guys but bottom line is GENESIS is a awesome and is a masterpiece compared to the sloppy recorded doom with its hardcore vibe(which sux!!)

metal blade...
JFAC dont have high pig squeals or breakdowns anymore because it's part of their contract with metal blade.
but this is a decent album. doom definitely was better.
but i definitely like this album.

Good on it's own. If you didn't listen to Doom, you'd like this.
Doom had a certain "pizzaz" to it. There was a lot more empty space in it, and breakdowns, and pig squeels, and high pitched screaming.
Genesis sounds fairly generic. The singer keeps a "middle of the road" sort of vocal style, not really branching out like he used to. AND NO BREAKDOWNS. WTF!?

Canada's Fear Factory is part of the '90s industrial metal scene that, unlike its Luddite '70s/'80s forebears, has no qualms about embracing technology (in this case, synths, programming and even a DJ) in the service of their dark, almost gothic vision.
