There are few musicians whose music has indisputably advanced humanity. Reggae figurehead Bob Marley--a songwriter, poet, activist, and visionary--is one of them. The idea that a single-disc collection could represent the depth, breadth, and power of Marley's achievement is far-fetched, but LEGEND makes an excellent attempt. Every single one of its tracks is outstanding, and the artist's different faces--revolutionary ("Get Up Stand Up"), romantic ("Is This Love"), devout Rastafarian ("Buffalo Soldier"), and prophet ("One Love/People Get Ready") are equally represented.
In addition to his moving message of love and unity, Marley is a master songwriter, as the timelessness of songs like "Stir It Up," "I Shot the Sheriff," and the gorgeous, poignant "Redemption Song" proves. Of course, a true sampling of Marley's output would require some early ska material, the Wailer's debut (CATCH A FIRE), the definitive NATTY DREAD, and his later-period opus EXODUS, but LEGEND provides a highly satisfying, if brief, overview of Marley's genius. A record well suited to any location, season, or time ...

| | Celtic Woman CD (2005)
Live At Beitedienne 1 & 2 music CDs
$11.39 CELTIC WOMAN is the brainchild of David Downes, a composer/conductor who was heavily involved with the American production of RIVERDANCE. Not surprisingly, all of the lights, drama, and musical bombast of that esteemed show are present on this production as well. Instead of showcasing legions of dancers, however, CELTIC WOMAN puts the emphasis on the rich heritage of traditional and contemporary Irish music, as performed by five talented female performers from varying musical backgrounds.
Though the melodies are often extremely simple and unadorned, the production is just as lush and majestic as anything on Yanni's LIVE AT THE ACROPOLIS, and should appeal to fans of that disc. The opening track features the extraordinary, bell-like ...

| | Storm Play It Again CD (2003)
Live At Beitedienne 1 & 2 music CDs
$15.19 Storm composes, arranges, writes and performs his music. Storm was almost arrested for disturbing the peace as he sat on the corner of a residential neighborhood blasting his boom box, singing his songs. Storm has been in contest and has performed in clubs; Storm enjoys music, he sold 1500 copies of his single (I Lied) until he was stopped by a police and ordered to stop selling his CD's without a license or he would be arrested. Storm decided to dedicate his time and energy to the business of music and bring to you his new CD (Play it Again). The CD is love, joy, pain and life through the eyes of Storm; the song Big Girls is nice and will grab the attention of a whole lot of big girls. The song Life will make you think how good life ...
| | Los Mas Valientes Gira Caribena CD (2001)
Live At Beitedienne 1 & 2 songs
$13.29 On this, their second release for LBP, Los Mas Valientes guides the listener through a Latin flavored sampling of Caribbean styles including Songo, Salsa, Bomba, even Bossa Nova and Reggae.Although the influences are varied, the band remains true to its roots by delivering a cohesive album, diverse and exploratory, yet always remaining Latin jazz at its best. The band has grown and changed a bit since the last CD, adding Willie Serrano on bongo and percussion and Victor Rendón on timbale. They've included some vocals on this record with their arrangement of a Salsa standard, Obsesión, as well as on Timba-Son and Vieques. The band is joined by some extraordinary guest musicians ...
| | Momposonica CD (2006)
Live At Beitedienne 1 & 2 album
$11.39 Momposonica is a rock en español quintet whose members all hail originally from Colombia but who found one another in their adopted home of New Jersey. Although their name pays nominal tribute to the Colombian folksinger Totó La Momposina, there's little here tying the band to its homeland's traditional sounds: these guys are all about rockin' out. Momposonica's self-titled debut album is a solid affair that rides a careful balance between contemporary pop, progressive Latin elements and classic garage rock while alternately bringing to mind the synth-tinged new wave of the early MTV era. The album exudes a more playful tone overall than much of the harder Latin rock of the era. On the Nuggets-like "Motor," Momposonica (in particular singer Luis ...
