| | Nirvana Bleach CD (1989) Deluxe; Deluxe Edition
Albany Amped Vol. 1 album
$12.78 With a sludgy, chainsaw guitar sound that owes as much to early Black Sabbath as to Kurt Cobain's heroes The Melvins, whose drummer puts in an appearance here, Nirvana emerges from Seattle's underground scene as standard-bearers of a style that embraces the anger and energy of punk alongside the thick, muddy sonic attack favored by early '70s proto-metal bands. Cobain's ...

Albany Amped Vol. 1 music CDs
$13.69 The Dammitheads are a rock and roll entity unabashed and unbowed. While the name serves to represent the group as a band, it more accurately puts to name the creative writing/recording vehicle and schizophrenic alter-ego for one otherwise begrudgingly titled singer/songwriter named David Tomaloff and his creative counterpart, drummer Steve Hawkins. The Dammitheads are a strange contradiction by design that refuses to be defined by today's oft too matter-of-course musical precepts, recording their own records as they see fit...damn the torpedoes...playing all of the instruments themselves and performing augmented versions of their songs live, as a two-piece.Their objective is simple: to create music that speaks to those less spoken to by the whole of the mainstream and its various mediums, while simultaneously offering something to everyone who listens. Their sound recalls hints of bands such as The Rolling Stones, David Bowie, T-Rex, The Clash, Elvis Costello, The Cars and Gang of Four. The Dammitheads have garnered quite a ...

Maureen blends life experience with her Jazz/Rock/Gospel leanings and a love of folk to create her own contemporary sound.Maureen studied music, but decided to leave school, join a band and experience the real world. "I hit the road in a beat up 65 Chevy pickup, traveling around Alberta Canada with 3 guys in the middle of winter. I knew I was in for a wild ride."Since then Maureen has performed all over the US and much of the world, including performances at The Sahara Tahoe, The Portland Rose Festival, The Amnesty International "Poetry of Witness" concert and at the "Voices of Reconciliation" concert preceding Archbishop Desmond Tutu's address ...

$16.45 NEW TRAIN!!4th STREET MESS AROUND!! LADY VODKA!!PRESS COMMENTS!!: ** HOUSTON PRESS 2007--"Both album and live show find folk styles from everywhere, from New Orleans to West Virginia to Minsk, getting tossed into a blender and coming out as ordered chaos, one of those dissolute trips to the Gyspy sin palaces Russian aristocrats were always sliding into on their way to ruin in the works of Pushkin, Tolstoy and Dostoevsky."**** HOUSTON PRESS 2007-- "Sideshow Tramps have already secured a place in Houston nightclub history as the band that put the fk back into folk."**** HOUSTON CHRONICLE 2006-- "If you listen to the bands that play old-timey stuff, it's very clean and orderly and the voices are very '60s folk revival," Kinsey says. "If you listen to us, it's like someone took the instruments and threw them down the stairs. The singing is more like screaming and there's not a lot of attention to notes."**** HOUSTON PRESS 2007-- "Band members trade off on vocals, with Craig Kinsey leading them through high-concept Dylan-esque tales while mandolinist Scott "Rag Tag" McNeil took more of a Howlin' Wolf belt-it-out approach. In their live shows fans sing along to every word. People get naked. Beautiful women jump on stage and dance with the band — it's secular spirituals and spiritual sexuality."** From HOUSTON PRESS article June 9, 2007Not many CD release parties begin with pagan processions. But then again, the Sideshow Tramps are not most bands. A little after eleven, as attendees milled about in the verdant, lush beer garden behind Dan Electro's, a scream was heard from the balcony above. "When I was boooorrrrn / the Devil had me / and then I found my medicine!" With that, Sideshow Tramps Geoffrey Muller (a.k.a. "Uncle Tick) and Shane Lauder (a.k.a. "Coach") started beating a military tattoo on snare and bass drums. "When I was boooorrrrn / the Devil had me / and then I found my medicine!" By now, you could see who was doing the screaming. It was a twentysomething guy dressed only in cutoffs, his body painted in the manner of some kind of drunken witch doctor. (In reality, the guy is a doctoral candidate in philosophy who had flown in from New York just for this gig.) He started coming down the stairs toward the beer garden at the head of a line that also included the two drummers, a violinist, a guy brandishing a lawn rake over his head, another with a doll nailed to a stick, and a trombonist. "When I was boooorrrrn / the Devil had me / and then I found my medicine!" The pageant marched down the stairs and into the beer garden. Some of the drinkers fell in at the rear. The band was playing a sort of Montrose/Heights ...
