| | Blue Ridge Grass Thunder Road CD Blue Ridge Grass Discography of CDs
Who is Blue Ridge Grass? The truth is that we are middle-aged men (except for Jamie, that young whipper-snapper) with regular jobs in rural Appalachia who have played Blue Grass music all of our lives, just for the love of it. Ray and Greg first founded Blue Ridge Grass while in their teens. At that time Bluegrass Unlimited, upon reviewing the first (out of copy) recording project called them âa force to be reckoned withâ primarily on account of their instrumental virtuosity. Life on the road as a Bluegrass musician has never been an easy row to hoe, and family responsibilities caused them to decline those opportunities. The present incarnation of the band has been together since 2003. While excellence in performance and arrangement is the passion, the objectives have been solely regional. On that score we are proud to receive write ups like the following from North Georgiaâs largest Bluegrass event (http://www.georgiamountainfairgrounds.com/rootsAndMusic.php)âAs one of the most popular bluegrass music groups in the Southeast, these seasoned musicians have developed a unique sound that is instantly recognizable. All five members have been playing instruments since their childhood years and have entertained fans for over two decades.âThunder Road is reviewed by Bluegrass Unlimited (available at http://www.georgiamountainfairgrounds.com/rootsAndMusic.php). In conclusion, the reviewer says: âWhile "Thunder Road" is primarily a regional production, the contents suggest that Blue Ridge Grass certainly has the potential of reaching out to a more diverse listening audience.â We obviously hope that is so, and consequently have made this release available on CDBaby. Give the clips a listen and if you like us, the CD is the easiest way to take us home with you. Thunder Road
$12.55 Although for the rest of his life, underinformed fans of 1990s pop will forever be calling Darius Rucker "Hootie," the former Hootie & the Blowfish singer-songwriter makes his solo debut with a perfectly credible take on mainstream contemporary Nashville country. The laid-back, largely acoustic folk-pop of Hootie & the Blowfish was never that far removed from contemporary country in the first place, so only the fact that Rucker ...

| | Percival Indian Summer CD (2006)
Thunder Road
$10.09 New York producer JP Bowersock âdiscoveredâ Percival on an internet forum late last year after hearing the bandâs rough homemade demo. Bowersock, who has worked with Ryan Adams & The Cardinals and The Strokes among others, immediately summoned Percival to New York where he produced their five-song debut CD, âIndian Summer,â now available on the bandâs own label, Territory Records. The Lawrence Journal-World has complimented Percivalâs âwell-oiled take on melodic alt-country tunesmithing,â and recommends that âfans of the Lost Highway label,â the home of Ryan Adams, Lucinda Williams, Elvis Costello, and Lyle Lovett, âwould do well to give the band a listen.âAlthough only a year has passed since singer-songwriters Justin Klinksick and Oliver Buck first conceived of merging their talents into a singular project in 2005, Percival has already established themselves as one of the most compellingâand hardest-touringâlive bands in their region. Now complete as a five-piece, with the addition of Tom Reid on drums, Mark Harvey on bass, and Brett Resnick on pedal steel, organ, and guitar, Percival explores the rich territory where old-school rock ânâ roll, rockabilly, electric blues, and roadhouse country overlap. Influenced by artists such as Ryan Adams & the Cardinals, Neil Young, The Band, Johnny Cash, The Old 97âs, Chris Isaak, Uncle Tupelo, Hank Williams, and The Grateful Dead, Percival plays music that exudes a timeless quality. While most notable for the strength of their original songs, Percival ...
