The sound of Parkers Break rings true to founding member Charlie Lang, who’s piano driven rock music earned him local success upon his arrival to Austin in 2005. Notable for his songwriting and performance, Lang takes most pride in his personal connection with his material. “I’ve always been committed to being honest in my music,” says Lang. “I’m not going to pretend to be something I’m not.” Raised in small town Indiana, Lang moved to Austin, Texas for the opportunity to develop his craft in the live music capital of the world. Bypassing industry formula, Lang assembled a band of seasoned local artists Errol Siegel, Jason Bryl, and Bryan Breaux to form his musical vehicle; Parkers Break. Armed with Lang's piano crafted songs, the foursome immediately hit the Austin circuit drawing crowds at noteworthy venues and sharing the stage with Austin’s biggest names.“There’s a special quality to allowing material develop live. But at a certain point, I felt that the songs had reached a level where I was ready to share them.”And that’s just what he did. Joined by Producer CJ Eiriksson (Jack’s Mannequin, Live, Something Corporate), Lang and the band hit the studio to record Autumn, an EP released in early 2007. Autumn explores a piano-based, grassroots rock sound along the likes of the Counting Crows, Ben Folds Five, and legend Bruce Hornsby.The appeal to the music can be attributed to its catchy melodies and unforgettable harmonies, but Lang feels otherwise.“I think it’s much more than that. Music fans need someone they can relate to. Sincere music earns respect, and that’s the part of my music I’m most proud of.”Through his growing success, Parkers Break’s frontman looks forward to the future, but remains committed to his roots. They are equal parts bluegrass and electric guitar. In a moment, a lilting acoustic melody will fall away into a vibrato-laden Les Paul guitar riff. A mandolin segues into a screaming lap steel solo...and somehow, it all makes sense in a manner unique to this musical family.There are many musical mutts that make up the particular hybrid that is The Youngers - all of whom are in evidence on their debut album, OUTPUT. The songs range from edgy rockers like "Long Way Home" (the leadoff track), to "Madelin", an acoustic number with a lazy percussion track, to "Arkansas" with its dark fiddle and darker lyric. The songs are deceptive in their simplicity, their beauty apparent both because of and in spite of it. The album has a raw cohesiveness - the songs, varied as they are, feel as though they belong together on the record.The band is the brainchild of vocalist and chief songwriter Todd Bartolo, veteran of Berks County Alt-Country band Frog Holler. Todd has appeared on mandolin, lap steel, and guitar both live and on record with Frog Holler since their second album. Todd joined the band after cutting his teeth on the road with singer/songwriter Tom Hampton and performing as an original member of Kris Kehr’s band The Stone Poets. Todd formed The Youngers as an outlet for his growing backlog of original material.Randy Krater (bassist and vocalist) is also an original member of The Youngers. Randy has been a musician, playing in bands since high school and once opened for the Osbourne Brothers and Ernest Tubb. At the young innocent age of 8 years old Devo's love and passion for music would be realized when his parents encouraged him to join his church's youth choir and other multiple school choirs as he matriculated through his educational process. His exposure to those experiences honed his vocal presence and created a deeper desire to sing. According to Devo there was a defining moment that he experienced that let him know that music and singing was his true calling. "It was when I sang a song called "What The World Needs" at an event and as I sang up on stage I saw my Mother's facial expression that without words let me know that she loved to hear me sing.
