| | Arotae Unearthly Voyage CD Arotae Discography of CDs
Arotae's rich melodic soundscapes are broadly influenced and are sure to speak to many different people. Arotae, however, does not stop with the ear drum. He brings the artistic expression to the eyes. With abstract three dimensional art, he creates a world in which his music thrives and embraces a new dimension of life. Finding music inherent in his blood, Arotae pursued percussion, woodwind, keys and voice. The broad range of personality and tone of the guitar, however, gave birth to a strong desire to create his own music. He began his early compositions on the Boss DR-5 drum machine (for a backup band). He later discovered he could accomplish digitally his ultimate means of musical expression. Arotae needed an unhindered method to express the poetic heart, cultural interests and many hours of philosophical contemplation. His new found method of composing music digitally allowed him to use every instrument and note like a paint brush. Arotae is the Greek word that essentially means 'The Art Of'. Why choose this name? In Arotae's world, life is an art. So, with his sense of holistic artistic expression he hopes those who enjoy his work are as broad and deep as his influences. | | Sunny Murray We Are Not At The Opera CD (1998)
Unearthly Voyage music CDs
$13.39 Whoa. Look out. When you look at the cover you know the sh*t is gonna hit the fan when this old master of the vanguard drumming tradition hooks up with the "gentle giant" of the alto, the tenor, and the flute. Sabir Mateen may not be as well-known as Sunny Murray is, but he's every bit as effective and iconoclastic. The title of the album is funny; they aren't even in the same country that opera comes from -- even though Murray lives near there. So what have you got? Drums, drums, drums, and more drums. When Murray plays you can feel, as Annette Peacock put it in an interview, that there are at least 12 children inhabiting one adult body. He is everywhere creating, each time he plays, notions of polyrhythm and textural tonality that haven't existed before the moment he rolled them off his sticks onto the kit. His ability to produce contrapuntal invention is so effortless and instinctual you can feel Mateen, who is no lightweight, struggle to keep up with the flow. There are four improvisations lasting just under an hour with their own ...

$10.15 Producing music since an early age ... Garnetta finally premiers her art and love for music to the world. As the world turns her music is designed to inspire others hearts and minds. Look for more greatness coming your wayAs said by Dusty Groove...Soulful grooves from Chicago's Garnetta -- done in a style that slides into house music at times, but which often has a much more cosmic edge! There's echoes here of recent work on the European scene -- spacier elements than you'd expect from more straightforward Chicago tracks, often filtered together with a great sense of production that has all the best bits gelling together wonderfully. The rhythms are relatively ...
