| | Dan Kaplan Stranger Land CD Dan Kaplan Discography of CDs
In a small town outside of New York City, Dan Kaplan wrote his first song at age 3. When he turned 15 he picked up his first guitar and started learning from the nomenclature of the blues and traditional American folk music; songs from Bob Dylan and the Beatles, and guitar greats like Jimi Hendrix and Chuck Berry. Music quickly became an obsession and has been ever since. Throughout high school, Dan fronted several different bands playing classic rock covers and developing as a live performer. "I remember the feeling just before a show," he recalls, "that nervous energy that makes your stomach turn. But I also remember that raw energy when the first note hits...everything else disappears."Soon after high school, it became clear that writing and performing his own songs was his true passion. He jokingly admits, "songwriting was kind of like a disease. And now that I have it, it just keeps getting worse...Somedays, I can't stop writing for even one second."While attending Vassar College in Poughkeepsie, NY, Dan played with indie band Autos and Airplanes, acclaimed alt-country rockers The Still, and was involved with diverse projects recording and producing. Now with the release of his second EP Stranger Land, he's taking up the reigns again fronting his own band, playing original songs from his extensive catalogue. Stranger Land album
$7.95 Woody Guthrie's son Arlo successfully made a name for himself with a body of work that falls under the shadow of his father only peripherally. Beginning as a sort of comic troubadour, Arlo laid out a persona that was all his own with "Alice's Restaurant Masacree." He followed his debut album with another in a similar vein--ARLO, which yielded "Motorcycle (Significance Of The Pickle)." This was followed by a series of smartly written, arranged and produced albums which benefited from great players (Ry ...

| | Jennifer Bloomer Ebb And Flow CD (2007)
Stranger Land CD music
$13.29 Jennifer Bloomer - BIO -Jennifer Bloomer has been performing her own heartfelt songs for over 20 years. Her music is a blending of pop, jazz, contemporary folk, and classical with soulful melodies and themes. Growing up in the Bay Area of Northern California, in a family of classical composers and jazz musicians, Jennifer was heavily influenced by both genres of music. She began writing music at the age of seven, and began performing her pieces at various venues by age ten. Her early tunes were thoughtful and reflective, with a classical sound. At age sixteen Jennifer wrote her classical solo piano piece, 'Andante De Amor', which she features on her debut album, Ebb and Flow, and which she performed live the year she wrote it at a composer's concert at Stanford University. While in high school, Jennifer was also very involved in singing for a jazz band, as well as singing and acting musical theatrical productions. For the next ten years after high school her songs began to take on a more jazz/pop feel, although a classical-sounding piece would come through now and then, such as 'Green Forest', written at age twenty. By age twenty-one Jennifer began recording some of her tunes, gaining her initial experience in the recording studio. After spending four years away for college, Jennifer returned to the Bay Area in 1987 and joined the Northern California Songwriter's Association. She began performing regularly at open mics throughout the south Bay Area. She won first place in an open mic competition in 1991 for 'Best Performer' while playing her feisty Latin jazz piece, 'This Man From Chile'. She also began playing her tunes at festivals, bookstores, and coffee houses. In 1992 Jennifer completed her first substantial recording project; a six-song recording of her then recent jazz/pop tunes, entitled Sitting Pretty. She continued performing at open mics, weddings, and coffee houses, and then in 1995 produced her second recording project; and eight-song recording on cassette entitled The Power. By this time Jennifer was married and with two children under the age of five, so she decided to give the whole music thing a rest, and just focus on being a full time mom. But out of this time of 'rest' began her spiritual awakening, which led ultimately to the creation of a whole new wealth of songs, all of a spiritual nature. These new ...
