| | Tony Yardley Surface Tension CD Tony Yardley Discography of CDs
My name is Tony Yardley. I've been at this guitar thing for about 40 years (to tell you the truth, I've lost count). I'm just another one of those countless old hippy guitar players who saw the Beatles on the Ed Sullivan Show and was hooked for life. As a member of many bands, a studio musician and a guitar instructor I've seen the world turn musically many times. I started out as a rock musician (they call it Classic Rock now)and evolved into a country musician in the 80's. I eventually returned to my love of blues, R&B, rock, and acoustic fingerstyle guitar. Which brings me to my new instrumental CD, Surface Tension. It's hard to catagorize this CD because of the diversity of musical styles in the 14 tracks. It is not a pure blues CD but there are strong elements of blues throughout the material. It's not a jazz, rock, pop, reggae or acoustic fingerstyle album either but all these ingredients are also present. I played most of the instruments on the album. I recorded the CD at home. I engineered it. I even mastered it myself. So if you like it I get all of the credit. If you don't, there's nothing for me to hide behind. I am fortunate to live in an area loaded with talented tasteful musicians. I was lucky enough to get some of these guys to play with me on Surface Tension. Danny Thomas and T. David Cunnigham played saxophones, Rick Goodwin and D.R. Morris played harmonica, Randy Wood played percussion, Lloyd Andrews, Rick Goodwin, Alan Wilson and Don Geier played bass guitar. I hope you enjoy listening to Surface Tension as much as I enjoyed making it. I'm proud to announce that I had two songs from Surface Tension(Isn't It Amazing and Sky Blue) played on Local on the 8's on the Weather Channel in January and February 2008. Surface Tension album
$11.99 While its predecessor, 2005's HOPE AND DESIRE, found blues-rocker Susan Tedeschi getting on a soul train, BACK TO THE RIVER represents that phrase beloved by hardcore fans of any artist, "a return to form." Tedeschi is back to the hard-hitting, bluesy sound with which she made her name, and her joy at this stylistic homecoming is clearly audible; you can hear it both in the throaty abandon of her vocals ...
