Simple Minds Live in the City of Light CDs (1987)
American Profile Presents: Roy Clark's Heart to Heart CD music All of these 14 lengthy tracks come from the band's more commercially successful period, covering 1982's NEW GOLD DREAM, 1984's SPARKLE IN THE RAIN and 1985's ONCE UPON A TIME, plus of course the hit single "Don't You (Forget About Me)." The performances are superb, but reworkings of earlier gems like "I Travel" would have been fascinating.
Recorded live at LeZenith, Paris, France in August 1986.
Recorded at the Paris Olympia during the 1986 ONCE UPON A TIME tour, the two-disc LIVE IN THE CITY OF LIGHT is a sprawling, sonically crystalline set detailing Simple Minds at their commercial peak. Many longtime fans of the band feel that their earliest albums, from 1979's LIFE IN A DAY through 1981's double SONS AND FASCINATION/SISTER FEELINGS CALL, are the Scottish group's best work, but other than a brief snippet of "Love Song" from 1980's EMPIRES AND DANCE in a medley, Jim Kerr and company ignore their early years entirely.
Simple Minds: Mel Gaynor (vocals, drums); Jim Kerr (vocals); Charlie Burchill (guitar); Michael MacNeil (piano, keyboards); John Giblin (bass).
Additional personnel: Robin Clark (vocals); Lisa Germand (violin); Sue Hadjopoulos (percussion); Douglas Cowan (programming).

Ultimate 60s Collection, Vol. 2 CDs (2008)
American Profile Presents: Roy Clark's Heart to Heart songs There's wonderful variety in this three-disc, 36-track box set of 1960s pop classics (everything here really could have easily fit on two discs, by the way), including endearing and enduring gems like the Vogues' "Five O'Clock World," the Box Tops' "Cry Like a Baby," the Dixie-Cups' "Chapel of Love," and the Surfaris' "Wipe Out," among others. It makes for a nice journey to another time and place. What isn't here, due no doubt to licensing costs, are any tracks by the Beatles, Bob Dylan, the Who, the Rolling Stones, the Byrds, the Doors, the Temptations, Marvin Gaye, or any number of other vital artists who truly shaped and defined the music of the era. ~ Steve Leggett

JD & The Straight Shot Right On Time CD (2008)
American Profile Presents: Roy Clark's Heart to Heart album for sale JD & the Straight Shot have a reputation for being a blues-rock/roots rock/Americana type of band, but on Right on Time, an additional element asserts itself in a noticeable way: country-rock. Stylistically, Jim Dolan's outfit hasn't given anything up on this 2008 release; blues-rock, roots rock, and Americana are still part of the picture, but there is no overlooking the honky tonk influence that asserts itself on some of the tracks -- especially "Long White Cadillac" and "What Do We Do Now." Dolan and his colleagues have definitely become more diverse and unpredictable; that said, they have no problem maintaining their earthy, down-home bar band outlook throughout the 43-minute CD. And that bar band aesthetic yields enjoyable results whether they are moving in a blues-rock direction on "Lie No Better," the dark-humored "Gonna Kill That Dog" (which is bound to freak out some PETA members), and "Train's a Coming"; making some Memphis soul moves on "Leap of Faith"; or taking a somewhat Willie Nelson-ish approach on the melancholy opener, "This Kind of Life" (which has a bit of a Tex-Mex edge). Right on Time doesn't adhere to one specific style, but the thing that all of these songs have in common is their rootsiness; from blues-rock to Americana to country-rock, this is a roots album, pure and simple. And while this disc doesn't pretend to be innovative in any way, it is a worthwhile demonstration of Dolan's ability to broaden his focus without sacrificing any of his bar band appeal. ~ Alex Henderson

Dante's Bop Brand New Day-Sun Sessions CD (2006)
American Profile Presents: Roy Clark's Heart to Heart album for sale Back in 1950, Sam Phillips started the Memphis Recording Services, Sun Studios, in Memphis Tennessee. He was always searching for plain, unvarnished, rootsy musical performances by local musicians. At first, he made a little noise locally with some blues and country artists that he recorded. In 1954 he hit the jackpot when he discovered a young Memphis musician named Elvis Presley. Elvis recorded his first hit, That's Alright Mama, at Sun Studios. Other artists who started their recording careers at Sun were Johnny Cash, Jerry Lee Lewis, Carl Perkins, and Roy Orbison. Folsom Prison Blues, Whole Lotta Shakin, and Blue Suede Shoes, were all recorded in the primitive little Sun Studios on Union Street in Memphis.
In Spring of 2005, I was on vacation in Memphis with my wife, Donna. We were in Memphis for a couple of reasons. The first being to look at real estate in that part of Tennessee. The second being to visit Graceland and pay our respects to Elvis.
Donna, suggested that we take the Sun Studios tour. She is very much the tour guide. At that time my knowledge of the significance of Sun Studios in modern music was minimal. We went on the tour. I didn't expect much, just some memorabilia and a gift shop. To my surprise, the tour was incredible. The studio, due to good luck, is in the exact same condition as when Sam Phillips closed the doors in 1960 and moved up the street to a new facility. In 1985 the studio was reopened and place on the Historic Register. Tours are ran through the day, each ending up in the actual studio where Elvis, Johnny Cash, and the rest got their start. I was very impressed as nothing has been changed or updated since the 50's. At the end of the tour the guide mentioned that it is still a working studio available evenings for an hourly fee. Upon hearing this I said to my wife, that I should get Dante's Bop down here to record. She said, go for it.
Within the next 12 hours I contacted everyone in the group and told them of the plan. We eventually settled on 3 nights in July for the session.
We than worked through the next four months composing new songs for the upcoming session in Memphis. All of the original compositions have been penned with an ear towards the old Sun sound. Simple changes, simple lyrics, and simple but heartfelt performances. When we went into Sun Studios in late July, we recorded all of songs in the manner that Elvis and the other greats, recorded in the Fifties. No overdubs, no click tracks, just live performances captured on tape. Even the vocals were recorded at the same time as the music.
In addition to Nora, Kevin, Tom and myself, we also brought along a good friend of ours, Michael Lee. Michael is a huge fan of Elvis, and understood the significance of what we were trying to do. He is featured on one of our original songs, as well as a couple of bonus tracks. Everyone worked very hard during the sessions. The engineer, James Lott and his assistant Matt were outstanding. They immediately locked into what we were trying to accomplish.
The weather was hot, the hours long, but the feeling of being right there where it all began overcame all of these discomforts. I really feel that the performances on this album capture some of the essence of what is Sun Studios and its mark on popular music. I hope that you will enjoy listening to the songs as much as we enjoyed playing them. And maybe, you too, will get a little taste of what it must have been like when the King was still alive.
Jerry Unger, Dante's Bop

Blanca Maria Set It Off CD (2008)
American Profile Presents: Roy Clark's Heart to Heart album for sale Blanca Maria is no stranger to the spotlight; she has been performing since the age of 10, she was selected from hundred's of children to perform in the prestigious professional children's choir 'All God's Children'. During her 3 years with AGC she traveled the country singing in numerous concerts which was highlighted by performances at Orchestra Hall in downtown Chicago. She would later become a key member of her high school choir.
Being a Latina of Puerto Rican and Mexican roots gave Blanca Maria a great mix of people she could draw inspiration from. Her early influences were Selena, Mariah Carey, Aliyah, Gloria Esteban, Mary J. Blige, Celia Cruz and Brenda K. Starr. She would perfect their repertoire which eventually caught the attention of her father who confidently put his young daughter on stage at local festivals in the summertime performing covers of these fine artists. This eventually led to her earning the role of lead singer in her father's Chicago area band Ritmo. With Ritmo she sang covers of other influential artists such as Donna Summer, Teena- Marie and Evelyn "Champagne" King as well as the artists that inspired her early on. During her years with Ritmo she performed at many venues including St. Bartholomew's Annual Carnival, Fiesta del Sol, The Chicago Puerto Rican Day Parade, Burbank Rose, Hedgehogs, St. Joseph's Annual Carnival, Luv N Music, and many more.
In 2005 Blanca Maria felt she had reached her potential singing cover songs. It was then that she decided to write and compose her own original songs. Her experience at a young age enabled her to write powerful lyrics and arrange them like a seasoned professional. Blanca Maria's gift of writing is evident from her emotional ballads to her floor stomping dance songs. Blanca Maria delivers a quadruple threat in being able to write, compose, sing and dance while possessing a great stage presence.
Blanca Maria combines great lyrics with a dynamic, powerful voice over some really tight tracks that'll make you want to move. This Chicago area talent has got everything it takes to capture a world audience but stays true to her Chi-Town roots by blending hypnotic hip-hop and r & b beats with a rich vocal style that will have her CD dominating your play list for years to come. A seasoned performer by the age of 10, Blanca's Maria's hard work and dedication has really paid off in songs that you are sure to designate as keepers in your music collection."
"Set it Off", Blanca Maria's first EP, details experiences in life everyone can relate to, with 6 tracks of original songs and no fillers. From the opening song "'I Know" Blanca Maria delivers knock-out power and lets the listener know I'm here and I'm ready to SET IT OFF. The smoking hot reggaeton track "Sure You're Right" is a definite crowd pleaser, the Latin songstress mixes smooth r & b vocals with splashes of Spanish over some hot beats. Blanca Maria's voice glides through "Good Thing", a tight r & b song that lets her man know what a good thing he's got. "Getaway" brings an infectious groove and soulful vocals that will definitely have you 'packing up for paradise'.
PRODUCED by local producer Peyton "T" with tracks by Mr. Drama, Lush and Mikey Mike. "Set it Off" is an original blend of thought provoking, dance invoking songs made just for you.
