Return to Metalopolis was the beginning of Chris Poland’s solo career, after leaving multi-platinum artists, Megadeth, in 1987. The Return To Metalopolis disc has been a cult classic for years, having been reissued several times worldwide. Lion Music is proud to share with you the only known live moments on tape from the short-lived tour in support of this classic release. Recorded live in 1991 at the now defunct Mason Jar in Phoenix, Arizona, Return to Metalopolis Live is a chance for fans to see how this inventive material translated over into a live situation. The recording is as is and would be the beginning of the line-up that progressed into the band, Damn The Machine, who released their self titled disc in 1993 on A&M Records. Listening to Return To Metalopolis Live, shows how Chris’ playing has evolved over the years, but it also shows that even back then he was pushing the boundaries of the guitar, with his trademark cutting tone and style. In addition to a couple of studio demo outtakes from past years, we thought it would be cool to include of OHM: performing a reworked version of the Metalopolis classic, “Alexandria”. LIVE IN JAPAN was recorded during the British blues guitarist's 1977 Japanese tour, and includes both Roy Buchanan originals and covers ranging from Larry Williams' "Slow Down" to Don Gibson's "Sweet Dreams."
Live in Japan (2003) is said to have been Roy Buchanan's favorite of all his platters, and ironically, it was never issued stateside. However, as word spread, the title became an essential addition to his discography. Fact is that it may have never come out at all, had there not been a loophole in Buchanan's contract with former label Polydor, giving them control over his non-North American output. Joining the guitarist for his 1977 tour of Japan are John Harrison (bass), Malcolm Lukens (keyboards), and Byrd Foster (drums/vocals). New York City's Toxik were a "band" in name only, since it was really guitar-masturbating wünderkind Josh Christian composing most all of their songs and the endless flurry of bumblebee notes scattered all over their breathless 1988 debut, World Circus. Sure enough, album opener "Heart Attack" propels thrash metal of such a frenzied nature at singer Mike Sanders that he truly seems to be experiencing a massive coronary while trying to enunciate all of those lyrics in his improbably high vocal range. Luckily, his life is spared so that he can carry on shrieking his way through another nine heart-palpitating tracks, although some listeners may find themselves wishing that weren't the case. For what it's worth, standout offerings like "Social Overload," "False Prophets," and the title track contain revealing traces of Toxik's roots in more melodic and deliberately paced classic '80s metal. This notion, in conjunction with their sociopolitical messages, tends to leave the quartet stranded somewhere between Queensr˙che and Joey Belladonna-fronted Anthrax ...
