| | Amerie Because I Love It CD - Import Amerie Discography of CDs
UK edition of the 2007 album from the R&B star includes two bonus tracks: '1 Thing' and 'Losing U'. As a whole, Because I Love It, Amerie's third album, unapologetically falls into no particular box. There are many elements ('70s soul, '80s New Wave, Hip Hop, live instrumentation), yet the sound is remarkably consistent throughout and makes complete sense. Although the musical inspiration is broad, the arrangement of the material is signature Amerie: strong, aggressive vocals, beautiful melodies, and lush harmonies. Sony/BMG. 2007. | | Melanie Fiona Bridge CD (2009)
Because I Love It CD music
$9.99 Melanie Fiona's debut single, "Give It to Me Right," was a perfect 2009 pop-R&B recording. The single coupled a timeless classic (the Zombies' "Time of the Season") with roof-raising vocals and infectious pop hooks that stuck like peanut butter. Fiona's single was perfect, albeit a touch formulaic. Because of this, it's no surprise that a large chunk of her debut album, THE BRIDGE, is much of the same. Like any good 2009 pop-soul recording, the ...

| | Groovelily Brendan & The Extenuating Circumstances CD (1998) Remastered; Reissued
Because I Love It CD music
$14.69 Brendan & the Extenuating Circumstances was a side project for Brendan Milburn, a talented songwriter/keyboardist whose main musical activity in the mid-to late-'90s was playing and writing for the East Coast pop/rock group Groovelily. Valerie Vigoda, Groovelily's vocalist/violinist, found herself backing such big names as Joe Jackson and Cyndi Lauper in 1997-1998, and with Vigoda spending so much time on the road with those artists, Milburn had time to record a project of his own. Though Vigoda sings background and plays violin on a few tunes, including the bluesy "The Odometer Song" and the playful "Hey You Gorgeous Thing," her contributions to the record are minimal. It's clear that Brendan & the Extenuating Circumstances is very much Milburn's baby. Milburn handles all of the lead vocals himself, often drawing on Michael McDonald's work with the Doobie Brothers. Think of the '70s pop/rock of the Doobie Brothers, Fleetwood Mac, and Steely Dan, and you get an idea where Milburn is coming from on such inviting tracks as "When Do I Get Mine," "Making a Diamond," and the emotional "Take Away My Dreams." Though one would've hoped to see Milburn record a lot more albums with Groovelily (he and Vigoda had such a strong musical chemistry), it was nice to see him doing something memorable on his own. ~ Alex Henderson
"...one listen to these accomplished players and it's clear they easily measure up to any of the current crop of rock bands twice their size...Laced with intelligent and positive lyrics, catchy melodies, and impressive instrumentation, GrooveLily marks a recent trend in popular music...away from the melancholic stance of grunge rock toward music with a considerably brighter mood and message."--The Utica Observer-Dispatch, 6/98 "Keyboard player Brendan Milburn won over the audience with his two-fisted rocking style."--The Lewiston Sun Journal, 6/98 "power pop with a difference made from some very well crafted songs, and gutsy, heartfelt performances by some truly accomplished and polished musicians"--Musicians on the Internet, 1998This album, Brendan Milburn's debut solo effort, is re-released now (in 2004) as part of the GrooveLily "Back Issue Series." The reissue has been remastered by Neale Eckstein, and contains several bonus tracks (previously unreleased songs, and early demos from 1991 and 1992). Though "Brendan & The Extenuating Circumstances" was made mostly while Valerie Vigoda (singer/electric violinist/founding member of GrooveLily) was away touring as a side musician with Cyndi Lauper and then Joe Jackson (1997-1998) -- that being the primary extenuating circumstance -- it is nevertheless the first CD on which all 3 core members of GrooveLily ...
