For anyone hasn't watched episodes of the Disney animated series PHINEAS AND FERB, it's highly recommended. It is a Saturday morning cartoon comedy that stars two irrepressibly inventive, multi-talented mischievous nerd geniuses (who happen to be stepbrothers), their vain, hyperactive, scheming sister Candace, and their pet platypus that happens to be a secret agent fighting an evil scientist. The plots are standard, and sometimes so are the jokes, but the characters aren't. In 1988, the John Lennon estate released the documentary Imagine: John Lennon. A loving, airbrushed look at his life, the film offset the negative press generated by Albert Goldman's vicious unofficial bio The Lives of John Lennon, providing an unabashedly biased and entertaining chronicle of one of rock's greatest icons. Fanatics cherished the rare footage scattered throughout the documentary, and they also were thrilled by the first official release of "Real Love," a demo Lennon recorded at his Dakota apartment during the late '70s. (It would later be overdubbed and released as a Beatles' track on Anthology 2.) Despite the inclusion of this and a rehearsal take of "Imagine," the soundtrack is geared toward casual fans. The soundtrack to Quentin Tarantino's darkly funny crime classic Pulp Fiction manages to re-create the film's wildly careening sense of style, violence, and humor by concentrating on the surf music that comprises the bulk of the movie's incidental music and adding a few sexy oldies integral to the film's story ("Let's Stay Together," "Son of a Preacher Man," "You Never Can Tell").
