So, here it is : Los Deltonos´s “GT” , their 5th album in a 17 year careerwhich has led them from the stormy Blues-Rock of their beginnings through way harder and funkier years to this latest effort, a record full of great SONGS with deep and moving lyrics and sonic landscapes that can well be called americana, whatever that means, though it´s pretty clear that for them it mainly means Rock.This time frontman Hendrik Röver, one of Spain´s most considered guitar slingers who writes the songs and also recorded and produced the album, has set free all his long-time country influences and has written a bunch of songs where steel drenched mid-tempos like “Circunvalación” (“Beltway”) which describes the dying of a smalltown once the new build beltway no longer leads you through or “Noroeste” (“Northwest”) which is about the most common wind in their homeland Cantabria alternate with moving ballads like “Brindemos” (“Let´s drink to our long gone friends”) , roots-rockers like “Elvis” or “Inventos” (“Inventions”) , greasy bar rockers like “Gasolina” (“Gasoline”) or “Feliz” (“Happy”) and wha-driven blues rock like “Fin (“End”) and “Tormenta” (“Thunderstorm”)Listen to the audio clips and if that doesn´t convince you we don´t know what else will.
