| | Zapp III CD (1983)
Old School Jams, Vol. 7 music CDs
$10.49 Pals of Prince, these '80 fellows had the world dancing to their playful, witty, funky tune: Zapp. ZAPP III is their third album from 1983 and is currently out of print in the U.S.
Where the first two Zapp albums were nearly flawless with their beginning-to-end knee-deep funk, Zapp III showed slight symptoms of becoming derivative. You are still strained to find any filler here, but the album's second side does pale considerably in relation to its first side, alluding to the possibility that group leader Roger Troutman may have finally begun struggling for new ideas at this point. These latter songs such as "Spend My Whole Life" aren't necessarily bad, just uninspired. The album's first side features two mammoth jams -- "Heartbreaker, Pt. 1 & 2" and "I Can Make You Dance" -- that weren't as successful commercially as "More Bounce to the Once" or "Dance Floor" yet were nearly as effective in terms of dancefloor utility. With both clocking near ten minutes in length, ...
| | Grand 12 Inches, Vol. 1 CDs (2005) Import
Old School Jams, Vol. 7 songs
$37.25 This is a four-disc, 39-track anthology of classic 12-inch dance mixes.
If you're a fan of dance music, from the inception of disco through early-'90s house, the Grand 12 Inches series will either be redundant or invaluable, but there's no denying that the selections are made with care and an understanding of the form. There's an average of ten tracks on each disc (this is a four-disc set), but that's understandable when extended and full-album versions ...

Old School Jams, Vol. 7 music CDs
$6.95 These are not the original versions, but 1966 re-recordings of his classic songs.
A seminal figure in the evolution of rock 'n' roll, Chuck Berry's influence as songwriter and guitarist is incalculable. His cogent songs captured adolescent life, yet the artist was 30 years old when he commenced recording. In 1955, during a chance visit to Chicago, Berry met bluesman Muddy Waters, who advised the young singer to approach the Chess label. Berry's demo of "Ida May," was sufficient to win a recording contract and the composition, retitled "Maybellene," duly became his debut single. Berry enjoyed further hits with "Thirty Days" and "No Money Down," but ...

Old School Jams, Vol. 7 songs
$11.19 "Change The Game" was nominated for the 2002 Grammy Award for Best Rap Performance By A Duo Or Group.
Jay-Z released REASONABLE DOUBT, his solo debut, in 1996. Only four years later, he dropped his fifth album, THE DYNASTY. Matching his unique off-beat delivery with hip-hop's most impressive lyrics, the Brooklyn-native reinforces the idea that he is one of rap's most profound MCs. Once again, Jay-Z shows us he knows about "big pimpin'" with tracks like "I Just Wanna Love U ...

$6.69 Hailstone’s music is straight up Rock and Roll. Formed in a one-car garage in the small town of Katy Texas, we originally got together as childhood friends to play covers of our favorite bands like Zeppelin and Sabbath. Before long we were working on original material by Floyd Bauler and Halston Luna. Although none of our ...

| | Tony Project Mollick Blues Catharsis CD (2007)
Old School Jams, Vol. 7 album
$11.15 This review of our record was written by Alligator Jackson, for the Dec. 07 issue of All Southern Rock Radio’s monthly newsletter.TONY MOLLICK PROJECT-BLUES CATHARSISAvailable now on CDBABY.com for purchase and/or mp3 download.Tony Mollick Project crafted an intelligent Southern Rock/Blues CD with “Blues Catharsis”. The CD kicks off with “Should’ve Known Better”. The tune starts like a sequal to Skynyrd’s “Simple Man” but progresses into a song that recalls Bad Company’s “Shooting Star”. Sharp guitar licks and sterling Southern Rock vocals highlight this tune and are present throughout the CD.“Blues Catharsis” is the debut album from TMP and has been getting strong airplay on www.allsouthernrock.com. Tony hails from Pittsburgh and there’s a little Steel City grit mixed in with his southern rock. “Likely Story” opens with a barrage of guitars, which churn steadily through a story of an everyman who should’ve “run for cover/three parts liquor ...
