Standard Screen; Additional Footage; Soundtrack English; Soundtrack Spanish; Dolby Digital 5.1 Re A cute little sprite named Crysta lives in a beautiful tropical rainforest. One day she flies above the forest's dense foliage to glimpse the outside world, and while there, she becomes infatuated with a human named Zak. He's a nice enough fellow, but he also happens to be a workman on the logging machine that threatens to destroy the lush and magical forest. Crysta decides to shrink young Zak down to her size so that he can see the world he is about to demolish from a different point of view.
A romance develops between the two, and the couple eventually join forces with some of Crysta's wacky rainforest friends to battle the humans. Unfortunately, our heroes have other enemies too: an evil woodland spirit called Hexxus has arisen from his slumber and, in between snacks of toxic waste, plans to destroy the forest. When Chrysta the magical tree fairy comes across the terrible monster machines that are eating the forest, she accidentally shrinks a construction worker to fairy size. Once small, and with the help of Chrysta and the other fairies and creatures of the rainforest, he realizes he must help save the land and not destroy it. Color by DeLuxe.
Marks 20th Century Fox's major re-entry into the production and distribution of animated feature films.
Director Bill Kroyer was trained at Disney in classic hand-drawn animation and was nominated for a 1989 Academy Award for his short film "Technological Threat."
Glen and Helen Threlfo are credited as "Rainforest Consultants."
The animation crew actually travelled to the Australian rainforest, so they could see the scale of the trees and canopy, as well as the creatures who lived there, and take photographs on which to base their drawings. This is quite unusual for an animation crew, which rarely goes on location.
Many of the well-known actors and musicians in this project agreed to work at minimum scale.
The following citations are listed at the end of the credits roll: "On behalf of the actors and producers and in appreciation of assistance given by the Smithsonian Institution, FAI is directing funds from the proceeds of 'Ferngully' for projects of benefit to the world's environment."
"Special thanks to the United States Postal Service for their efforts to raise environmental awareness." Ferngully: The Last Rainforest Reviews: "...Good villains and supporting characters..."

A charming story with a message. Wonderful art, an all-star cast, and something to say. It was quite the success when first released, for some reason got kinda obscure. Get it, don't miss out Submitted by Ray C. (Victoria, BC, Canada) Was This Review Helpful? Yes No This review is for a different format.

Ferngully: The Last Rainforest film
$8.99 Like so many American artists before him, pop-gospel singer/songwriter Donnie McClurkin brought his music to England to be received with open arms. McClurkin recorded his second album in London, the town that had taken him to its bosom, and it's the site of this live recording as well. From the near-religious ecstasy of the MC's introduction to the unabashed enthusiasm of the audience, it's plain that London loves this boy from the States.
McClurkin's music is a vehicle for his spiritual beliefs, but that doesn't mean dour theology lessons. Rather, his blend of pop, gospel, and R&B is an exciting, uplifting thing. Marvin Winans ups the ante by joining in on the subtly groovy, almost Bill Withers-like "Who Would've Thought." As shown on "Just For Me," McClurkin has a way with a ballad as well, and some canny choral backing doesn't hurt LIVE IN LONDON a bit.
Recorded live at Fairfield Hall, London, England.

| | Beatles For Sale CD (1964)
Ferngully: The Last Rainforest review
$15.65 It was inevitable that the constant grind of touring, writing, promoting, and recording would grate on the Beatles, but the weariness of Beatles for Sale comes as something of a shock. Only five months before, the group released the joyous A Hard Day's Night. Now, they sound beaten, worn, and, in Lennon's case, bitter and self-loathing. His opening trilogy ("No Reply," "I'm a Loser," "Baby's in Black") is the darkest sequence on any Beatles record, setting the tone for the album. Moments of joy pop up now and again, mainly in the forms of covers and the dynamic "Eight Days a Week," but the very presence of six covers after the triumphant all-original A Hard Day's Night feels like an admission of defeat or at least a regression. (It doesn't help that Lennon's cover of his beloved obscurity "Mr. Moonlight" winds up as arguably the worst thing the group ever recorded.) Beneath those surface suspicions, however, there are some important changes on Beatles for Sale, most notably Lennon's discovery of Bob Dylan and folk-rock. The opening three songs, along with "I Don't Want to Spoil the Party," are implicitly confessional and all quite bleak, which is a new development. This spirit winds up overshadowing McCartney's cheery "I'll Follow the Sun" or the thundering covers of "Rock & Roll Music," "Honey Don't," and "Kansas City/Hey-Hey-Hey-Hey!," ...
