Labyrinth album
$12.75 This is the debut album from Amethystium which received a groundswell of support from online listeners, to the tune of a half million downloads before its official release. The album is attributed to Oystein Ramfjord, a composer from Norway who makes ambient electronic music full of mystifying sounds. The opening song, "Opaque," begins with an incredible underwater sonar pulse that makes way for passages of Indian vocals that are very reminiscent of Deep Forest. In fact, most songs employ well-crafted samples of ethnic music from disparate regions. These are held together by a steady synth percussion and sweeping vocals. The speaker phasing on "Enchantment" is ...
| | Amethystium Aphelion CD (2003)
Labyrinth CD music
$14.45 Aphelion is the point where a planet or any celestial body is furthest from the sun. While this must be pretty dark place, Amethystium breathes light into the shadows. Amethystium is Oystein Ramfjord, a Norwegian composer who shapes elements of electronica and darkwave, evoking classic Tangerine Dream and Kitaro. This is the follow-up album to ODONATA, Ramfjord's acclaimed debut. Voices figure prominently into each song's construction. Often ethereal and wordless, these sound forms give a great depth and haunting quality to the music, while the only discernible lyrics are found on "Autumn Interlude." Amidst pitch shifting and electronic squall, guest vocalist Joyelle Brandt soars, recalling the powerful collaboration between Sarah McLachlan and Delirium. Gregorian ...

| | Ryan Farish Everlasting CD (2006)
Labyrinth album
$14.49 Ryan Farish is one of the most popular purveyors of easy listening electronica in the United States, even though most people don't know his name. Where most listeners have experienced Farish's music is on the Weather Channel, which features his compositions regularly during the Local on the 8's forecast, as well as on the intro to Storm Stories. As his name has risen in profile, his site on mp3.com has gotten a steadily increasing number of hits, and his debut album Beautiful ended up on Billboard's Top Ten chart for new age music. His third album finds him exploring more extensively the sounds of live instruments; Everlasting prominently features string arrangements and electric bass along with the usual electronic chord washes and percussion. Farish's sound is still a bit on the goopy side, a problem that he could largely clear up if he'd eliminate the shimmery aura of reverb and delay around his piano, but there are some very fine moments on this album: "Sing to You" benefits from a U2-ish bassline, crunchy breakbeats rough up the edges on the otherwise rather saccharine "Together We Will Conquer," ...

| | Rasa Devotion CD (2000)
Labyrinth music CDs
$13.45 Hindu devotional chant has never been rendered so seductively as by the San Francisco-based duo Rasa. The presence of kirtan instruments (harmonium, tablas) and classical Indian sounds (bansuri flute, mridangam or double-sided drum) grounds their debut album in tradition, while thrilling synthesizer atmospherics and dramatic vocals bespeak the passion and modernity that Rasa brings to their music. Kirtan superstar Krishna Das provides guest vocals.
Additional personnel includes: Krishna Das (vocals); William Wandall (acoustic guitar); Habib Khan (sitar); John Wubenhorst (bansuri flute); Ira Stein (keyboards); Girish Gambria (mridangam, ...

Labyrinth album
$11.39 Glen is from Seattle, Washington. He started playing guitar at the age of 10. He started playing bass at the age of 19. For the last three years Glen has played bass with The Walt Hampton Band. He also plays on the worship team at Bethel Church in Richland, WA. | | Mordechai Cohen Mordechai's Moods CD (2007)
Labyrinth music CDs
$20.29 Mordechai Cohen has played jazz piano all of his adult life. In addition to his original works in the jazz genre, represented here, he has composed and published modern classical music for varied intstrumental and vocal combinations. His musical career path has been a varied mix of playing every form of "gig", teaching privately and at pre-college (Manhattan School of Music Preparatory Division for over thirty years), community college and university level. In addition, as a second career undertaken at a later stage of his life, he became a tenant activist in the New York City landlord/tenant struggles of the '80s, and went on to get a law degree and practice eviction prevention law in the New York City housing courts with Legal Services for New York, a not for profit law firm offering free legal assistance to the needy.About these offerings the composer has said, "These are 29 of my jazz compositions. The songs are a collection of work spanning thirty five years . What makes 'jazz composition' unique is that the tune becomes the basis of the improvisation which may become a spontaneous 'jazz composition'. What is a 'jazz composition' ? It is when the improvised choruses have a coherent natural development. The player stays out of the way allowing the muse to ...
