Jasmine/Rainbow album
$11.65 Although they released three full albums, a number of EPs and a seemingly endless stream of compilations, Soft Cell will always and forever be known as "the duo who did 'Tainted Love'." This obscure R&B single, given a techno-trash workover by singer Marc Almond and keyboardist Dave Ball, was an enormous hit on both sides of the Atlantic and has been revived endlessly ever since its 1982 release. This 1994 EP, released to cash in on the song's newfound popularity due to its use in a television commercial, features one of the best of the many versions of the song, a lengthy medley which pairs Ed Cobb's tune with a languid version of Holland-Dozier-Holland's "Where Did Our Love Go." The EP also adds two later Soft Cell singles, "Loving You, Hating Me" and "Where the Heart Is," plus a negligible remix of the title track.
1991 CD maxi single for the duo's top 10 1982 smash.Features the full nine minute medley of 'Tainted Love/ WhereDid ...

Jasmine/Rainbow CD music
$17.19 "Though he's released several fine live recordings over the course of his career, this is the definitive live Van Morrison album. From his fertile early-'70s Celtic soul-man period, this 2-disc set presents Morrison as one of the premier re-interpreters of American roots music. Backed by a loose-but-funky, horn-driven band, he recontextualizes Muddy Waters (""I Just Want To Make Love To You""), Sonny Boy Williamson (""Help Me""), and Sam Cooke (""Bring It On Home To Me"") for the post-Beatles generation.
At the same time, the versions of classic Morrison songs like ""Domino"" and ""Into The Mystic"" are even more fully realized than the studio recordings, with Morrison pouring his soul into every tune. The set list reaches as far back as Morrison's days with Them (""Here Comes the Night,"" ""Gloria""), and continues up through tunes from 1973's HARD NOSE THE HIGHWAY. A stirring, 10-minute-plus version of ""Cypress Avenue"" from ASTRAL WEEKS closes out the concert, and puts the cap on this stunning live document."
While Van Morrison is, to be kind, an erratic and temperamental live performer, he's in stellar form throughout the double album It's Too Late to Stop Now, a superb concert set that neatly summarizes his career from his days with Them (represented by scorching renditions of "Gloria" and "Here Comes the Night") through 1973's Hard Nose the Highway ("Warm Love," "Wild Children"). In addition to the hits, including "Caravan," ...

$4.15 This 1997 compilation includes the soundtracks to the movies "Love Me Tender" (1956) and "Jailhouse Rock" (1957), and features four previously-unreleased tracks. A complete soundtrack album was never previously released for either movie. At the time of the movies' release, the songs were released on various EPs and singles; they were also collected on such compilation albums as A DATE WITH ELVIS.
The characters Elvis portrayed on film often inhabited walks of life far removed from his own. 1957's JAILHOUSE ROCK was one of the few movies that found him playing exactly what he was (no, not an ex-con): a gifted young singer whose talent was as natural as it was undeniable. And, in contrast to most Elvis movie soundtracks, the songs adhere closely to the core of what Elvis' music was all about. Backed by Sun Records stalwarts Scotty Moore and Bill Black, among others, Elvis sang the bejeezus out a batch of soon-to-be classics, mostly written by Jerry Leiber and Mike Stoller.
Whether he was spitting out the party-in-the-penitentiary lyrics to the title song or gently caressing the melody of gorgeous ballads like "Young And Beautiful," Elvis gave his all on JAILHOUSE ROCK. It would be one of the last times he would be able to make as deep an emotional connection with his film material. (He was in nearly as fine form on 1956's LOVE ME TENDER, whose principal songs, including the classic title ballad, have been added to the JAILHOUSE ROCK reissue.) All the more reason to savor this serendipitous marriage of commerce and art.
