Purchase Suit CD To buy, Click on price to add to cart | Z-Ro Cocaine CD (2009)
Suit album
$15.05 Despite his status as one of hip-hop's most prolific artists, Z-Ro never quite spreads himself too thin. The provocatively titled COCAINE is his second release from 2009, and features his trademark self-aware, yet rapier-sharp lyrics over some of the hotter beats out of the fertile Houston scene. The Intro skilfully sets out the landscape as the dark-vocaled MC reflects upon his choice of a life of street dealing without a shred of remorse, while stressing his decision was not exactly the wise one. From there, Z-Ro, an expert storyteller, wanders from tale to tale, each one delivered with a novelist's touch, on a record which somehow transcends cookie-cutter.
In 2009, Z-Ro's loyal fan base expected Heroin, a two-CD set announced the previous year, but instead they got Cocaine, a one-CD version with many songs that already appeared on the mixtape Codeine. Confusing, and rumors of the rapper's difficulties with the Rap-A-Lot label top it all off, but the good news is that Cocaine is no great disappointment. It does feel a bit disjointed and perhaps cobbled together from tracks recorded for the mythological Heroin, but fans of the rapper spend enough time in the mixtape world that any semi-sensibly laid out Z-Ro release is a step up, and Cocaine is just that. Highlights include "Quarterback," which is filled with football metaphors; the anthem "Southside" with special guest Lil' Flip; and "Can't Leave Drink Alone," which serenades the purple stuff as if it were the sweetest woman Z-Ro has ever known. In another move fans will appreciate, ...
| | Best Of Sam Cooke CD (1962) Bonus Tracks; Remastered
Suit CD music
$6.25 This 1965 compilation is the perfect introduction to the soulful pop of Sam Cooke. It contains all of his best-loved songs in their original versions and represents the wide variety of moods the man conjured with his music. His unique vocal style combined the smooth, tasteful pop approach of Nat King Cole with a grittier, more emotive soul sound.
His compositions brought those two worlds together in a similar manner, the worksong providing fodder for the melodic pop of "Chain Gang," for example. "You Send Me" is the ultimate expression of romantic rapture, while "Sad Mood" is the most mournful ...

$14.25 With a forceful delivery, a distinctly unique flow rife with head-turning couplets, and an unassailable knack for marketing, Wale (pronounced "wah-lay") built up a world of hype to precede this 2009 debut. Based on the spry "Na Na Hey Hey Kiss Him Goodbye"-sampling, Lady Gaga-sporting opening single ...
| | Best Of Stevie B CD (1991)
Suit album
$8.65 Miami-based vocalist Stevie B was never more than a pleasant pop/soul type, although he scored a left-field number one hit in 1990 with "Because I Love You (The Postman Song)." That's included on this anthology, along with his other sentimental smashes, which included "I'll Be By Your Side" and "Love and Emotion." ...
| | Pitbull Rebelution CD (2009)
Suit CD music
$12.95 On the mistitled REBELUTION, rapper Pitbull takes a cue from his homeboy Flo Rida and dives headfirst into the lucrative world of ultra-slick Miami club-rap. The only stories of boat people found here are the kind about people who own yachts, and while the Cuban-American's songs of freedom are sorely missed, nothing in the man's back catalog could fill a dancefloor as quickly as the tech-house stunner "I Know You Want Me (Calle Ocho)." Same could said of the futuristic booty music "Krazy" with Lil Jon or "Hotel Room Service," which triple-mashes an old-school hit ("Rapper's Delight"), a 2 Live Crew classic ("One and One"), and a house music giant (the Nightcrawlers' "Push the Feeling On"). Even when not the most persuasive mood album, once the party has kicked into high gear Rebelution will certainly keep it going.

$13.19 It's rare to hear old-school, no-nonsense thrash metal, but England's Evile play just that. ENTER THE GRAVE could sit comfortably on the rack next to Metallica's MASTER OF PUPPETS or Slayer's REIGN IN BLOOD. Singer/guitarist Matt ...

| | Zach What I Meant To Say CD (2009)
Suit CD music
$12.49 “You find yourself thinking about the end of the line/ I find myself thinking about it more than I mind/ but ooh the setting sun ain’t sitting down on you/ tomorrow’s love will make a way through” These lines written about his father facing terminal cancer (and are yet, even more relevant today) open What I Meant to Say, the latest offering by Akron, Ohio native Zach. This is a big year for Zach: it marks his 10-year anniversary of playing music (and over 2,000 performances) as he releases his 9th album. The new record is something different for the singer/songwriter, as well as something that has been a long time in the making. “This is a much more personal record than any of my others. Each song comes from a place of sharp emotion – both up and down. And it has taken me a while to be able to get out of the writing process enough to write things that are really truthful and honest for me.” Many songs on this record were written about or in the aftermath of his father’s passing from Pancreatic Cancer. One, “Wherever You Are,” was written after the sudden passing of a friend. Yet, this is not a melancholy album. It is decidedly optimistic. “How could it not be? Many of these songs started in dark places, but the light found them. If you don’t have hope, then there is no point to anything. I have a song that goes I’ll die trying/ to light the night sky.”“In the time since my last record, I’ve really come into my own, and into my own skin much more, in writing, performing, and my life in general. What I Meant to Say is a reflection of that growth.” Along with personal growth, Zach has surrounded himself with a talented band who all traveled down to Atlanta’s Tree Sound and Namaste Studios to record with Nick Chawala (Gym Class Heroes, Collective Soul, Outkast). “To lock yourself away in a different town and record is an amazing feeling. It really bonds the band. And that is important – this is definitely a band record.” Zach started writing songs and playing guitar after he landed in a near death-bed from a burst appendix. “I really believe I was shown my path, and I’m just trying to do the best I can with it. If I can make someone smile, forget about the horrors of the day, to dance, to maybe be a little bit more conscientious of others, than I’m doing my job. Then I can be happy.” What I Meant to Say is being released on April 25th with an Album Launch Concert at Cuyahoga Falls High School at 7:00pm, with proceeds benefiting the high school’s Stage and Sound Crew program.
