| | Loudness Thunder In The East CD (1985)
Doomshade music CDs
$10.65 Loudness was a Japanese hard rock quartet that had numerous hit albums in the 80's and early 90's. Thunder In The East reached number 74 on the Billboard charts in 1985. Wounded Bird. 2003.
With 1985's Thunder in the East, Loudness were faced with the daunting challenge of conquering heavy metal fans outside their homeland of Japan for the first time. Knowing that their early sound might prove a tad too heavy and complex for American audiences, the foursome rose to the occasion by dispensing their most melodic compositions ever. Yet, except for a few obvious examples, like "We Could Be Together," first single "Crazy Nights," and the power ballad "Never Change Your Mind," the band doesn't seem at all self-conscious about this transition. A few all-out headbangers like "Get Away" and "Clockwork Toy" are hammered ...

| | Dio Holy Diver CD (1983)
Doomshade album
$7.55 Despite recording two hit studio albums with Black Sabbath (1980's HEAVEN AND HELL and 1981's THE MOB RULES) and playing throughout the world to huge crowds, Ronnie James Dio left the band in 1982-the year of his final release with Sabbath, the in-concert LIVE EVIL. As soon as the announcement of his departure was made official, Dio ...
| | Judas Priest Screaming For Vengeance CD (1982)
Doomshade CD music
$6.75 Also available in a 3-pack with BRITISH STEEL and POINT OF ENTRY.
In the early '80s, a new musical movement, dubbed "The New Wave of British Metal," swept across England. The conspirators include such heavy bands as Iron Maiden, Motorhead, Saxon, and Def Leppard, but Judas Priest is often credited as the originator and leader of the pack. Rob Halford's vocal histrionics and the dual guitar attack of K.K. Downing and Glen Tipton mesmerized metal-heads everywhere. While Priest had been together since the early-'70s, the band's big U.S. breakthrough came with 1982's SCREAMING FOR VENGEANCE.
Like most other metal bands that broke through in the early '80s (Motley Crue, Twisted Sister, etc.), Judas Priest took advantage of the then-developing video medium. MTV put the clip for "You Got Another Thing Coming" in heavy rotation, and the song became one of ...

| | Holly Mcnarland Stuff CD (1997)
Doomshade songs
$9.79 With Alanis Morrisette and Fiona Apple burning up the charts, the mid- to late 1990s were more than friendly to angst-ridden female rockers. One of the most compelling "angry young woman" releases of 1997 was Holly McNarland's Stuff, which gives the impression that the Canadian singer/songwriter lives and breathes dysfunction. Expressive and convincing, McNarland packs a strong emotional punch on "The Box," "Coward," "Elmo" and other tortured, introspective offerings that leave little ...

$10.69 If you like comedy mixed with your pop-punk and Mr. T. Experience and the Dickies albums are a bit too academic for your taste, you may consider dumbing down your music collection with the Naked Apes. While it would be unfair to dismiss a band's musical ability just because their ...
| | Ronnie Milsap Just For A Thrill CD (2004)
Doomshade music CDs
$12.65 It is no surprise to learn that a seasoned performer like Ronnie Milsap has--in the brightly colored autumn of his career--released an album of standards. It is a pleasant surprise, however, to learn that the record, entitled JUST FOR A THRILL, is full of lively, big-band-driven arrangements, a sense of lightness and fun, and Milsap's always-appealing croon, which sounds better than ever. Aficionados of the American Songbook and Milsap fans alike will appreciate his fresh take on tunes like "Bewitched," "Ev'ry Time We Say Goodbye," and "My Funny Valentine."
The disc's version of "But Not for Me," for example, is busy and swinging, injecting a healthy shot of jazz into the country-pop style Milsap is known for. The emotionally stirring "Cry," complete with swelling strings, succeeds thanks to Milsap's straightforward, yet carefully considered, vocal performance. The snappy punch of brass throughout keeps the tunes energetic and smart, as do the fine arrangements by Jimmie Haskell, Doc Mulligan, and others. Such elements provide the perfect backdrop for Milsap's warm, easy-going voice in a way that makes these dusty gems sparkle anew.

| | After The Fire At2f CD (2006) (Import) United Kingdom
Doomshade songs
$16.19 While the early-80s signifiers (roto-toms, melodramatic keyboard flourishes) abound on this record, it is nevertheless a bright and engaging pop collection that doesn't sound all that out of place amid the retro synth-pop that was all the rage upon the album's ultimate release.
2006 collection of extremely rare and unreleased tracks from the '80s Prog/New Wave quartet who scored a worldwide hit ...
