| | Dozer Beyond Colossal CD (2008)
Hierophant CD music
$11.29 One has to admire the members of Dozer for having the balls to name their fifth album Beyond Colossal, thereby raising fan expectations to improbable heights; but then, Sweden's longest-running stoner rock band (arguably) haven't paid much mind to external forces throughout their career -- or else they'd have switched to death metal or pop music by now. No, Dozer remain committed to their primary musical course, and like other stoner rock ...

$17.29 This is a collection of unreleased BBC sessions recorded between 1970 and 1974.
SONGS FOR OBLIVION FISHERMAN features 12 tracks by '70s U.K. progressive rockers, Caravan, and includes "Hello, Hello" and "In The Land Of Grey And Pink."
This is the first of two collections of material Caravan recorded for the BBC, spanning the years 1970-1974. Caravan is one of the most versatile of the Canterbury family of English psychedelic and progressive rock, capable of winsome, witty pop songs as well as complex ...
| | Hoodoo Gurus Blow Your Cool CD (1987)
Hierophant songs
$10.15 For the Hoodoo Gurus' third album, the group's American record label was hoping the band could come up with something a bit easier to market than the witty, '60s-obsessed pop/rock of Stoneage Romeos and Mars Needs Guitars, so they paired the group up with producer Mark Opitz, who had previously twisted the knobs for AC/DC, INXS, and the Divinyls. Opitz gave the band a smoother, slicker surface and a cracking, radio-friendly drum sound; he also weeded out the band's wackier material (nothing like "Dig ...

$11.55 | | Miles Davis 1957-63 CD (1997)
Hierophant album
$11.65 1957-1963 celebrates the collaboration of jazz icons Miles Davis and Gil Evans with 12 choice cuts.
Despite the daunting prospect of editing the six-CD collection of the complete 1957-63 studio works of Davis and Evans into a one-hour sampler, the compilers chose wisely. Nine of the 12 selections are familiar master takes of classic Davis-Evans works. Five are from the duo's biggest popular success, 1958's PORGY AND BESS, three are orchestral tracks from 1957's MILES AHEAD and the stunning 16-minute interpretation of the Adagio movement of Joaquin Rodrigo's "Concierto de Aranjuez" from 1960's SKETCHES OF SPAIN sparkles like a jewel.
These well-known pieces sound brand new, thanks to a brilliant remastering job. The last three cuts whet the appetites of those intrigued by the box set's hours of outtakes and rarities: alternate takes of "Wait Till You See Her" and "Corcovado" from 1962's QUIET NIGHTS, as well as an excerpt ...
| | Todd Snider Devil You Know CD (2006)
Hierophant CD music
$12.05 Universal Music's New Door Records subsidiary has the unusual if not unprecedented assignment of giving artists second chances at major label contracts. It seeks out people who once recorded for labels now controlled by Universal and re-signs them. Singer/songwriter Todd Snider had a three-record tenure with Margaritaville Records, Jimmy Buffett's vanity imprint with MCA, which later merged with PolyGram to form Universal. Snider then went to John Prine's indie label, Oh Boy Records. Universal signaled its renewed interest in Snider in 2005 when its Hip-O reissue subsidiary released That Was Me: The Best of Todd Snider 1994-1998, and now New Door has brought him back into the fold. Snider is certainly a man in need of second chances, in both personal and career terms, and his talent suggests he's also deserving of another look. Throughout his career, he has been a charter member of popular music's club of endearing screwups, tracing back to Hank Williams and beyond, artists whose talent could not be untangled from their tendency toward bad behavior. He remains unrepentant on The Devil You Know, playing alternately in Rolling Stones-like rock & roll arrangements and hard country acoustic styles. The characters in his songs, many of them first-person narrators, are charming ne'er-do-wells, starting with the one in the Chuck Berry-style rocker "If Tomorrow ...

Hierophant songs
$44.15 On his third studio album, NIGHTCRAWLER, New Jersey-born singer-songwriter Pete Yorn offers up another assured set of pop-savvy rock tunes, this time leaning toward a more robust sound. Although the potent, riff-laden single "For Us" is one of the record's most immediately accessible tracks, Yorn presents a wide range of enjoyable tunes here, from the jangly, propulsive "Undercover" to the chiming, buoyant "Maybe I'm Right" to the spare, wistful ...

| | New World Jazz Project Limpopo CD (2008)
Hierophant CD music
$21.49 THE COMPOSITIONS: Travel does wonders to one’s musical inspiration. While trekking in Central America, the hauntingly long cry of a toucan resonating through the rain forest became the germ for Call of the Toucan. The experience of visiting South Africa and hearing the joyous music from that region created the inspiration for the simple Limpopo. The Latin-tinged Deevee is a nod to the great flutist Dave Valentin, caught while in Los Angeles. During a year-long stay in London, the constant, urban hustle-bustle of that great city gave rise to Wait a Minute. The ambiance of a mild winter sunset breeze shared with friends on a Southern California beach resulted in Laguna Sunday. Everything has its story.NIALL McGUINNESS, LEADER: Born in St. Augustine, Florida, Niall’s musical forays led him to Miami, where he graduated from the University of Miami School of Music, with an emphasis in jazz performance. ...
