Ireland has a long and proud folk tradition, so it makes perfect sense that the concert chosen to document Bruce Springsteen's 2006 tour in support of WE SHALL OVERCOME: THE SEEGER SESSIONS would be in the country's capital city. The 22-track set, LIVE IN DUBLIN, captures both the political passion and the overwhelming joy of this tour. Touring with an expanded band of friends and fellow New Jersey musicians instead of the E Street Band, Springsteen goes for a hybrid electric-acoustic sound rather than the full-on rock bombast he's better known for. Although solo takes of Springsteen originals like a haunted "Atlantic City" are highlights, the focus here is both on the large, rollicking band and on the Seeger tunes and traditional folk favorites given new life. LIVE IN DUBLIN is available in both two-disc and three-disc formats, the latter adding a live DVD of the entire concert.
DVD: This Disc features material from the two hour concert shot at The Point in Dublin, Ireland from November of 2006. "glorious jingle-jangle cacophony of washboards, tubas, accordions and guitars in a well-choreographed show that mixed temperance hall gospel and New orleans jelly roll."..Evening Herald (UK). Includes full length CD.
Rolling Stone (p.70) - 3.5 stars out of 5 -- "Springsteen rips up old folk songs and revises nine slices of his back catalog..." Bruce Springsteen Live In Dublin Songs Live In Dublin Music Review Average Rating: (5 out of 5 stars) All rolled up in one This show is just incredible - it's a folk hootenanny, it's a blugrass fiddlin' hoedown, it's a horn powered jazz fest, it's a gospel choir soul meeting, it's a tent show revival -- well at least the opening 15 minutes are anyway - after that it just gets better. This show is better than when I saw Bruce with the Sessions Band six months earlier - somehow they are both tighter in their performance and looser with flair at the same time. The audience is singing along, everybody appears to be having a ton of fun, and it all comes through even on the small TV screen. The sound quality is sharp - you can hear the folk guitar strumming clearly, with the subtle steel guitar, while the bam-pow-wham of the horn section is bright without being overpowering. Blinded by the Light gets a great treatment, Long Time Comin is beautiful, and Open All Night just piles doo-wop, soul, rockabilly, jazz, and a few bars of Rock Around the Clock into a powerhouse live performance. And then comes Pay Me My Money Down, which is the catchiest 150 year old sea shanty I can recall. Bruce leads the band magnificently as always - he is a conductor, and guitar strummer, and singer, and at one point he has to play traffic cop because the horn section marching around the stage is ready to smash through the conga line of back-up singers. Bruce's first band (of which he was the leader) was a power trio of guitar-bass-drums. Now the Sessions Band has 4 acoustic guitars, steel guitar, 2 fiddles, 4 horns, organ/accordion, 3 harmony singers, upright bass, and drums. This is just a sterling performance, the CD is excellent and the camera work and lighting of the DVD brings it 100% alive. Absolutely recommended to Bruce fans. Fabulous Music "Live in Dublin" is one of the top five albums of myu entire 66 year old life. I can't stop playing it, dancing along with it most of the time. Instrumental arrangements are brilliant. Submitted by rwoodel (Bishop GA USA) Was This Review Helpful? Yes No
fantastic as any Bruce show, this is really a fantastic magical cd.
I've been to a concert of this tour in Italy, and beleive me it was great; a lot of musicians, beautiful contest and wonderful sound.
It's a pity there's not The river in the list, it should have been, an emotional version which sounds more Irish than ever. A must have Submitted by Daniele (Venice, Italy) Was This Review Helpful? Yes No

| | Neil Young Live At Massey Hall 1971 CD (2007) Includes bonus DVD
Live In Dublin CD music
$21.29 Bob Dylan once famously remarked about hearing Neil Young's "Heart of Gold" on the radio that he knew his days as the man of the hour were numbered. Fact is, Young is the only guy who can even reasonably compete with Dylan for the title of rock's greatest songwriter, and while "Dylan in the '60s" has long been a cliched assessment of an undeniable rock hot streak, so too has become "Neil Young in the '70s." While Dylan has long culled material from his archive, Young has been reluctant to do the same. He's now joining the fray full force with LIVE AT MASSEY HALL 1971--the second live release in an ongoing series from Young's legendarily deep vaults.
The performance comes between the release of AFTER THE GOLDRUSH and HARVEST ...
| | Al Stewart 24 Carrots CD (1980) Bonus Tracks
Live In Dublin music CDs
$10.45 "Here In Angola," "Pandora," and "Indian Summer" were originally released on the LP INDIAN SUMMER.
24 CARROTS is folk-rocker Al Stewart's 1980 album, recorded with Shot in the Dark. This reissue features five bonus tracks, "Here in Angola", "Indian Summer", "Pandora", "Delia's Gone", and "Princess Olivia".
The pun of the title of 24 Carrots -- the first overt signal of humor Al Stewart has displayed in years, possibly ever -- illustrates that a lot has changed since 1978's Time Passages. The loosening ...

Live In Dublin songs
$38.19 The meat of the order here is definitely the first disc, TRAVELING WILBURYS, VOL. 1, a certified masterpiece with five legends at the top of their game. Roy Orbison's "You're Not Alone Anymore" may be his finest performance since the '60s; George Harrison's "Handle With Care" is as good as any solo Beatle hit; and Tom Petty's "Last Night" shows why he belongs rubbing shoulders with Orbison, a Beatle, and Dylan. Disc 2 features their follow-up record, ...
