A new version of the 1995 movie from director Paul Verhoeven and screenwriter Joe Eszterhaus. High-strung, statuesque Nomi Mallone (Elizabeth Berkely) is determined to be a dancer in Las Vegas, whatever it takes--but she starts out as a stripper. Through her seamstress roommate (Gina Ravera), Nomi catches the attention of the voracious bisexual Cristal (Gina Gershon), star of an extravagant pagan sex show called "Goddess" which plays nightly at the swanky Stardust Casino. Through Cristal's influence, Nomi gets a chance to audition for "Goddess" and is soon involved in all sorts of sordid backstage goings-on, including bitchy dueling with Cristal over Stardust head honcho Zack (Kyle McLachlan). Maligned by many critics upon its original release, SHOWGIRLS has since become a true camp classic, revived for midnight showings and beloved for its decadence, high nudity yield, and outrageously catty dialogue (courtesy of screenwriter Joe Eszterhas). Its director is Paul Verhoeven (ROBOCOP, TOTAL RECALL), so one can safely assume SHOWGIRLS' over-the-top hostility and sexuality is meant to be a satire of American culture. One of the first big-budget Hollywood movies to be released with an NC-17 rating, its lack of box office success meant few others would have the guts to follow. The first big-budget studio film that was given a rating of NC-17 by the MPAA. The film's budget has been estimated at $40-45 million. The film also was the first one rated NC-17 that was widely released (on 1,388 screens). But despite all the hoopla and publicity surrounding the film's release, it only grossed $20.1 million in the U.S.

Showgirls Movie Review Average Rating: (3 out of 5 stars) Fully Exposed, to what......?? This is a disappointing re-release!! I shall never in life of me know why they had to re-release it, and declare it as the fully exposed edition!!??!! There is nothing new or interesting in the new special features to justify this!!
The feature itself is exactly the same as the previous edition, nothing more nothing less!! Submitted by y.ben-david (givatayim, Israel.) Was This Review Helpful? Yes No
So bad... So entertaining! It's a bad film. The story and dialogues are really ridiculous. But it's funny, simple, amusing, shows good female bodies and choreographies. I can only expect disposable fun when I see it. Really good B movie. Submitted by vfalcon (Lima, Peru) Was This Review Helpful? Yes No 1 of 2 found this helpful. Is this movie OSCAR worthy?...NO But I do find it to be enjoyable. Whenever it comes on tv, I always wind up watching it and enjoying it. Probably because I have the hugest crush on Glenn Plummer. What did you expect? It's a B movie! Being a fan of B grade films, which typically feature bushels of nudity, I jumped at this film. Yes, the plot is weak. Yes, I believe that for Elizabeth Berkely making this film was the career equivalent to shooting oneself in the foot. Did I enjoy this movie? Absolutely! A really low film for someone like Berkley........... I do not know what made her do such a movie like this. She is really hot and I love her body but still this movie really ruined her career and she could have been so much more in hollywood. She is tall, tan, and sexy which is what most men dream of. THis movie totally blew big time and I knew it was going to be a bust in the theater as soon as it go the nc-17 rating. There are some beautiful women in this movie, I always thought that Gina Gershon was really, really hot and the black chick in here that gets raped at the end, is really hot. Though that was messed up that a man that she dreamed of would so something like that to her. That is how life is, things never appear to be what you think they are and people never appear to be what you dream they are either. But still that was rather low. And the fact that the scene was actually detailed also was really disgusting and in low taste. Berkley was fine in here though and she really does know how to act which is why I find it hard to believe she does not get a big role in hollywood and is stuck to making b-rated straight to video movies all the time. I hope things change for her soon because she is already in her 30's and is not going to keep those looks forever. Submitted by puertoricandj (buffalo, ny usa) Was This Review Helpful? $10.29 The feature film debut of Hayao Miyazaki (NAUSICAÄ OF THE VALLEY OF THE WIND, PRINCESS MONONOKE), THE CASTLE OF CAGLIOSTRO depicts one adventure of the master thief Lupin and his rough-around-the-edges gunman, Jigen. Something of a cross between Batman, James Bond, and Cary Grant's character in TO CATCH A THIEF, Lupin is a suave ladies' man who is also given to feats of athletic daring, aided by a gadget filled belt that gets him out of more than a few scrapes. The plot has Lupin and Jigen traveling to the sleepy little country of Cagliostro and coming to the aid of the unwilling fiance of the diabolical Count Cagliostro. After CAGLIOSTRO, Miyazaki stopped creating "slapstick" feature films in favor of more serious fare; CAGLIOSTRO shows, however, that he is quite capable of delivering the goods ...

Showgirls film
$10.05 Based on a true-life story set in 1970s Philadelphia, PRIDE follows determined swimming coach Jim Ellis (Terrence Howard) as he as struggles to gain recognition and respect for his African-American team. Operating out of a recreational center in a rough part of Philly, Ellis's loose-knit group of teens face difficulties dealing with both criminal and racial issues, making it that much harder to keep them focused on swimming. When Ellis gets a chance to take on the swim team of a school that rejected him for a job, he sees a great opportunity for his kids to show their true mettle.
Helmed by first-time feature-film director Sunu Gonera, PRIDE, like 2006's football-themed INVINCIBLE, is steeped in the look of ‘70s Philadelphia, but that aspect never seems forced, allowing the poignant story to shine through, thanks, in large part, to Howard's thoughtful, no-frills performance. While Bernie Mac is on hand to lend support, the comedian (and his considerable sideburns) never steals the show, and only enhances the movie's uplifting vibe, which is boosted further ...
