Megatropolis CD music
$11.05 Evildoer was formed in 2004 by Johan (guitars) and Agge (drums) with the intention of doing something that incorporated several extremes of the Metal scene into the bands music. Later Martin (Guitars) and Simon (bass) were recruited to fill in the line-up. Andy from Gothenburg death-thrashers "Within Y" was convinced to join the band on vocals. Their debut album was recorded in famous "Berno Studio" Malmö, Sweden with producer Berno Paulsson. Their music spans from total chaotic grind parts to melodic choruses, political and society based lyrics weaved together in an extreme statement of aggression!

| | Phil Rosenthal Turkey In The Straw & Other Bluegrass Songs For... CD (1994)
Megatropolis music CDs
$11.49 Phil Rosenthal is a highly regarded singer, songwriter, and instrumentalist in the world of bluegrass and folk music. He was lead singer and guitarist in the popular band the Seldom Scene, and was appointed Connecticut State Troubadour in 1994. His original songs have been recorded by Johnny Cash, Bill Monroe and others. After leaving the Seldom Scene in 1986, Phil formed his own label, American Melody, and has produced over 25 recordings for children and adults, featuring himself, the Sommers Rosenthal Family (Phil, wife Beth, and children Naomi and Daniel), Jonathan Edwards, the Smith Sisters, Cathy Fink, David Mallett and others. These recordings have received rave reviews and over 20 awards from the Parents' Choice Foundation, the American Library Association and others. "Turkey in the Straw" was Phil's first recording of bluegrass/folk music for children, and the first release on his own American Melody label. It was a Parent's Choice Award Winner, and received rave reviews from Parade Magazine ("Music rooted in tradition. If you love the interplay between banjo and mandolin and the pleasing harmonies of bluegrass, this album is for you and yours"), the American Library Association ("a rousing, highly singable collection"), Working Mother Magazine ("will set the whole family singing"), and others. It's an album that parents seem to enjoy as much as children.

| | Tom & Joyce Tom & Joyce CD (Import) Import
Megatropolis songs
$23.65 To get this straight from the jump: "Joyce" in Tom & Joyce is not the Brazilian Joyce, but in fact Joyce Hozé from Paris, who has never (like her partner and cousin Thomas Naïm) set foot in Brazil. Were these performances not so breathtaking and emotionally honest, it would be worth taking the pair to task for deliberately trying to deceive listeners into thinking that this was a collaboration of Tom Jobim and Joyce. But, given how solid their two albums are, and especially this one, it's difficult to fault them for idol worship. Besides that, Hozé's Portuguese is flawless (even though she spends much of the album singing in French). This is cultural identity theft if there ever were a case of it anywhere; Naïm, so obviously under the sway of Jobim and Joao Gilberto, set out to transcend his techno-electronica roots and make a solid samba album. Enlisting his multilingual cousin, who is supremely gifted in the vocal department, didn't hurt. Here samba, Cuban son, and bossa blend seamlessly on two handfuls of tunes that begin to tell a story of sensual delight, cultural miscegenation, and postmodern appropriation that is a delight to the senses. The songs might not be flawlessly written, but they are certainly as fine as anything else coming from Rio these days. This is auspicious and should be heard for its stellar production and presentation alone, though the songs and arrangements are very fine as well. ~ Thom Jurek
