| | Tito Rojas Live Autenticamente En Vivo CD Tito Rojas Discography of CDs
Tito Rojas' first live recording captures all the excitement that the successful salsa singer can provide, unedited and untouched, and almost real time. All his greatest hits material is presented in front of the Pier 10 audience in San Juan, Puerto Rico. The recording quality is excellent, and the record is well-produced and mixed. It features a brief homage to the then-recently passed Tito Puente, "Ran Kan Kan." Few recordings, especially in the late '90s and early in the new millennium, can capture such raw energy and heart-wrenching rage. This is a must for Tito Rojas fans, and one of the finest salsa recordings of that year. ~ José A. Estévez, Jr.

Live Autenticamente En Vivo album
$11.18 Since the middle of the 1990s, cantante Victor Manuelle has always placed near the top of the Latin charts, given his many recordings and concert tours, and even his co-hosting of the 2006 Latin Grammys. In 2007, he won the Premio Lo Nuestro for Best Salsa Artist. One listen to "Mirame," the opening track -- and first single -- from his Yo Mismo (Myself) album, explains why. This cut, which has caused the album to race up the Billboard Top 200 charts, is the perfect meld of modern salsa and nuevo flamenco. From the acoustic guitars in the first few moments to the skittering claves and drums and brassy horn section that pop in right behind his soulful vocal, ...

Live Autenticamente En Vivo album
$10.25 To listen to this collection is to know that in the '60s, ground zero for "pure pop genius" was not only located in England or the U.S., but in turbulent, bubbling Brazil. This collection presents the very cream of the crazy cream of Os Mutantes, with 14 tracks hand-picked by Beco Dranoff and David Byrne. While these brilliant, psychedelic recordings are best appreciated in the context of the three albums from which they are mostly culled, the music found here offers a wonderful glimpse of the dynamic pop magic that was Os Mutantes.

| | Ernest Dawkins New Horizon Ensemble Capetown Shuffle: Live At Hothouse CD (2003)
Live Autenticamente En Vivo music CDs
$12.29 Recorded live at Hothouse, Chicago, Illinois on August 6-7, 2002.
From Albert Ayler to Sun Ra to the Art Ensemble of Chicago, spirituality has long played a major role in avant-garde jazz (as well as a lot of modal post-bop). And there is no shortage of spirituality on Cape Town Shuffle, which was recorded live at the Hot House in Chicago in 2002 -- alto/tenor saxman Ernest Dawkins and his Windy City-based New Horizons Ensemble thrive on it. In fact, the 19-minute "Third Line and the Cape Town Shuffle" finds the band's trumpeter, Ameen Muhammad, doing a simulation of the type of sermon one would hear in an African-American church (possibly Southern Baptist, possibly AME). Dawkins doesn't give Muhammad that vocal spot in order to convert listeners to Protestant Christianity; rather, he does it to acknowledge that Christianity is part of the black cultural experience. And that affection for black culture is evident throughout this CD whether Dawkins is incorporating elements of African music on "Toucouleur" (which gets its name from a tribe in Senegal) or celebrating the contributions of Eric Dolphy and Thelonious Monk on the 12-minute ...
