Deep Trance album
$14.38 Glitter and Doom Live, a double-disc set, marks Tom Waits' third live effort in his nearly 40-year career, each one summing up his career to the point of its release. The first, Nighthawks at the Diner issued in 1975 on Asylum, is regarded by many as one of the greatest live albums of all time. The second was Big Time, released during his tenure at Island in 1986. The musical performances on disc one of Glitter and Doom Live were culled from Waits' historic sold-out tour of the U.S. and Europe. He compiled and sequenced the set himself, intending to make them sound like a single show. The material leans, understandably, on his recordings with the Anti label. There are stellar performances here, such as "Get Behind the Mule" from The Mule Variations, "Trampled Rose" from Real Gone, and a haunting version of Leadbelly's "Fannin Street" from Orphans: Brawlers, Bawlers & Bastards, to mention just three of the 17 cuts here. But he goes back to his Island albums too. For instance, there are completely re-visioned readings of "Lucky Day" and "I'll Shoot the Moon" from 1993's Black Rider, and a killer -- though equally revamped -- version of "Singapore" ...
| | Sting If On A Winter's Night... CDs (2009) Digipak
Deep Trance CD music
$14.19 It's no secret that Sting is a serious man, so it's only logical that his holiday album -- his first new music since the Police reunion, not that it really matters -- is a serious endeavor, thank you. No niceties for him, no comforts of carols; he favors formal over familiar, writing madrigals, not ditties. It is music made by someone who lives in a castle, which isn't necessarily such a bad thing: the austerity is genuine, not affected, ...

| | Epsilons Killed 'Em Deader 'N A Six Card Poker Hand CD (2007)
Deep Trance songs
$9.85 There is a brutal, joyful simplicity to the Epsilons garage rock attack. In the new millennium, garage punk can often be the domain of tongue-in-cheek hipsters or borderline musicologists posing as the lumpen proletariat. But this (really) young band from Orange County, CA sound like the real, raw deal: with singer Ty Segall's primal howl, piles of white-hot guitar fuzz, and a cheap synthesizer cutting through all of the din, the Epsilons tear through the fast and primal terrain of Killed 'Em Deader 'N a Six Card Poker Hand in fierce fashion. For a close comparison, look to San Francisco's Mummies, whose budget rock barbaric yawps from the ...

| | Darren Hayes Spin CD (2002)
Deep Trance CD music
$5.95 When Darren Hayes made the leap to a solo career, the fresh-faced Aussie stuck to his strengths in creating the same kind of adult contemporary sounds that he made as a member of Savage Garden. Hayes retained the services of producer Walter Afanasieff for his debut SPIN, and the template was trimmed with lush orchestration, slick beats, and delicate hooks that stay well within the parameters of radio-friendly pop. Delivering the goods with a tenor that brings to mind classic '80s Michael Jackson, Hayes ...
