Actors portray Elvis Presley at various ages, combined with public and private documentary footage. Cast: David Scott, Paul Boensch III, Johnny Harra, Lawrence Koller, Rhonda Lyn, Debbie Edge, Larry Raspberry, Furry Lewis, Liz Robinson, Dana MacKay, Knox Phillips, Cheryl Needham. Both the theatrical and extended versions are included. A documentary about the life and times of "The King", Elvis Presley. The film uses a variety of techniques to capture Presley's personality and persona: there are rare clips, home movies, dramatizations, and even an Elvis impersonator. Highlights include Elvis' early performances, his stint in the army, his controversial hip-swivelin' appearance on "The Ed Sullivan Show", his 1968 comeback concert, the illustrious film career, the marriage to high-haired Priscilla, and his transformation into a bloated pill-popper, which led to his death in 1977. An entertaining and informative film biography of the legendary performer. This film utilizes interviews with many of the people who knew Elvis most intimately, including family members, friends, employees, and his long time manager, Colonel Tom Parker. Narrators: Ral Donner (Elvis Presley), Joe Esposito (Joe Esposito), Linda Thompson (Linda Thompson), Lisha Sweetnam (Priscilla Presley), Virginia Kiser (Gladys Presley), Michael Tomack (Vernon Presley).
The theatrical running time of this film was 88 minutes, while the homevideo version runs 144 minutes. This Is Elvis Reviews: "...Packed with enough fine music and unusual footage to satisfy anyone with an interest in the late singing idol..."
-- Cart., Variety "...Mesmerizing, if not as a drama or documentary , then as an artifact....A gaudy, unforgettable story, and it's part of the story it tells."

This Is Elvis Movie Review Average Rating: (3.3 out of 5 stars) No effort put into this! With all the things they can do with films these days,we get offered a pathetic 2 dvd version of this film, the footage from june 77 tells the story, they have done nothing with the footage and has that grainy look and so does the 68 special stuff, this looks like no effort at all was put into it,maybe one day we will get a Elvis product that isnt done in such a amature way,And to think were relying on these guys to put out a On tour set! " Get a Life " Why doesnt the person who descirbes this movie retire. "The pill popper". Is that all anyone has to say about Elvis. I`d hate to imagine this world without hus music. At least he didnt become a queer/homo like the beatles and rolling stones elton john ect. If you cant say anything good then shut up and retire. He had more gold/platinum records than anyone. If Elvis had a better Doctor we would have to watch this. We can thank Dr Nick (Elvis so called Doctor)for his contribution to Elvis death from pills Elvis used as if he was taking vitamins. He didn't know what he was doing. Thanks Dr Nick.
This is a great documentry.
Lots of rare clips and more information about the King than usually availble.
A must for Elvis collectors. Submitted by Vince (Tampa) Was This Review Helpful? Yes No
Elvis Life & Times Documentary Well done biography, with Elvis' full life condensed to a couple hours. Staged reinactments of numerous portions of Elvis' life -- all in documentary style, complete with running narration by a voice impersonator. The actual footage of Elvis off stage and the reinactments blend very nicely. Plenty of footage of Elvis as well, in rehearsals and on stage, including segments from his last show, 6 weeks before his death. Submitted by a reviewer (New Mexico, USA) Was This Review Helpful? $9.69 The grisly and debauched film PATHOLOGY is a juiced-up medical thriller that plays like FLATLINERS with a mean streak and a broken moral compass. Writers Mark Nelvedine and Brian Taylor have created a premise allowing for CSI-like forensics along with heaps of sex and violence, truly making the most of the film's R-rating. A high-end exploitation film with good performances, PATHOLOGY is strong enough for horror fans and should go down smoothly for non-squeamish viewers with a taste for the dark side.
Gifted med student Ted Grey (Milo Ventimiglia, HEROES) arrives at a major Washington, D.C., as an intern, where he is met with suspicion and resentment by the tightly knit group of fellow young pathologists-in-training. Soon, though, Ted is accepted into their circle---where they each take turns committing a murder so that the others may prove their mettle by figuring out the cause of death and celebrate with drug-fueled orgies among the dead bodies in the hospital. Things change for Ted, though, when his law student fiancée, Gwen (Alyssa Milano), moves to the city and helps to scare him straight. Soon, crazed Wallace Stevens-quoting leader Jake Gallo (Michael Weston) turns on Ted, putting ...
