\"Crazy Coyote\" documents live, blue-collar rock and roll at it\'s finest. Lewi Longmire has built a reputation as Portland\'s multi-instrumentalist \"go to guy.\" In the years since relocating to Portland from Albuquerque, New Mexico, he\'s been included on shows and recordings by many of the Northwest\'s finest bands and songwriters. He\'s worked with national acts Michael Hurley, Victoria Williams, Jerry Joseph and Tara Jane O\'Neill as well as local luminaries Fernando, James Low, Little Sue, Casey Neill, Michael Jodell, the Freak Mountain Ramblers and Annalisa Tornfelt. His presence is so ubiquitous in the Portland music scene that REM\'s Peter Buck commented recently, \"It\'s funny... I actually went to go see a band in Portland the other night and was surprised to find Lewi WASN\'T in it!\"More recently, though, Lewi has taken all the things he learned from working with these fine performers and has been spending his time leading a roots rock/americana band of his own, singing the songs he has written himself. The group owes much to the American tradition of good songs played with high energy, deep roots, and an unpretentious sense of fun. Their sound finds the connection between the basement feel of The Band, the raspy blue-eyed soul of Joe Cocker\'s \"Mad Dogs & Englishmen\" Band, the desert space of Giant Sand, the \"without a net\" deep space improvisations of the San Francisco ballrooms, the punk abandon of The Stooges and the quiet contemplation of Johnny Cash playing solo. Helping Mr. Longmire achieve this sound is a band of stalwart Portland musicians. Bill Rudolph (bass and vocals) played with the Crackpots and Little Sue for years, driving their home crowd into an energetic frenzy with his low tones. Ned Folkerth (drums) has toured the world over with many groups, including the midwest\'s Pinetop Seven, always laying down the perfect groove to cure whatever ails ya. During this project the band was joined by Portland expatriate Kevin \'Bingo\' Richey of guitar and vocals, whose presence in the Pacific Northwest still reverberates through his founding of Portland heroes the Freak Mountain Ramblers, as well as the singing of his own tunes. From the liner notes:\"As a music fan, I\'ve always felt that i was born about 20 years too late. My dad\'s generation had the good fortune to witness the heyday of jazz, the pinnacle of soul and the birth of rock & roll. While I\'m not knocking lip-syncing, auto-tune and pro-tools (my generation\'s \"contribution\" to music) I can\'t help but feel that I missed most of the best and truly real musical experiences. Miles Davis. Jimi Hendrix. Coltrane. Musicians who understood the value of art, who worked painstakingly to achieve new heights and push themselves and their audience to expand their boundaries and sensibilities. Musicians who walked on stage every night and created something spontaneous and brilliant. Inspiration. Virtuosity. Heart and soul. Everything i wish i hadn\'t missed out on.\"Here\'s what you need to know about Lewi Longmire and his band. They are the chance we thought we missed. The chance to witness something real, something from the heart, something unique. The chance to be there when \"it\" happens. And believe me, when these guys lay into it, its happening. Bill Rudolph (bass) and Ned Folkerth (drums) hold the rhythm section down with subtlety, soul, simplicity and power. Think early Al Green records without the stomping on the amp-crate bit. Bingo (or Kevin Ritchie on guitar if ya wanna get technical) seems to pass back and forth effortlessly between thick, solid rhythm and going bat-shit lead-guitar crazy. Go see the show, you\'ll get it. As for Mr. Longmire; he writes from his heart, sings from his soul and plays guitar like Bruce Lee kicked people in the face. By that I mean he\'s a bad-ass. Lewi has taught me more about being a real musician than a lifetime of lessons, school and unsolicited advice from Southern California. | | Steampacket Homecoming CD (2004)
Crazy Coyote album
$18.99 Steampacket delivers Traditional Irish and European tunes mixed with self-penned tunes in the idiom of the Irish tradition.Geoff Wallis, author of the "Rough Guide to Irish Music" wrote:"The fivesome are just about identifiable in the rather blurred picture which appears on the liner cover opposite and are, left to right, the bodhrán player Rolf Wagels, flute player Claus Steinort, fiddlers Stephan Schneider and Tina Fastje and, lastly, guitarist and bass player Andreas Lassak. The group has apparently been around since 1999 and this is its debut album, although it was recorded as long as the period from November 2001 to March 2002.Rolf is a regular at the Frankie Kennedy Winter School and often in Donegal at other times too while, as Tola Custy recounts in his liner notes, Claus spent some time in County Clare. Perusing the tune notes, however, reveals a very broad range of sources for the tunes which appear on Homecoming, from the Shetland-based band Fiddlers' Bid, via the Mancunian piper David Lim and a set of Finnish polkas, to Josephine Keegan and Garry Shannon, plus a bevy of tunes composed by German musicians, ...

Crazy Coyote music CDs
$10.15 What is a bio but an over-glamorized self-exalting pseudo-history of a band? Basically, bios are typically meaningless exercises in hyperbole. And as our number of records released continues to grow (5) and our number of shows played exceeds what we ever thought we could do (500+), talking about the experience becomes impossible in short bio form. Adding to this the fact that our creation story is quite long, complicated, and over-told the bio writing experience becomes an unwanted one. What you need to know about engaged can be found in our mission statement, everything else is insignificant. You could wake to find tomorrow morning cold, and in the same way you could wake to find that engaged is no longer the definitive two man acoustic screamfest, but that we have evolved into a bluegrass group. Engaged is defined by purpose, not product. We are not special or glamorous; we are not ‘bio’ material. To the church:Imagine a world where hungry people are overlooked. Imagine a worldwide epidemic that kills insatiably and appears unstoppable. Imagine victims of this catastrophe being overlooked and even shunned. Imagine a world overridden by war and murder. Imagine genocide on the unborn. Imagine the same people who loathe the later supporting the former. Imagine a world that tells the homeless to get off the streets and then asks them to leave their buildings. Imagine a world where good is seen in forfeiting one’s soul to gain possessions. Imagine a world that opposes the humble and gives grace to the proud. Imagine a world that returns a scorn for a scorn. Now imagine a church that lives to undo this world. Be quickened lady, bride of the Great Groom, rise and move. Fight for and not against. Let the radiance of your betrothed shine in your face. Love one another without hesitation and without expectation. Never forget your complete inability to fix yourself when you consider trying to fix another. Never forget the eyes your Groom laid on you when you set your eyes on another. Never forget His eyes. To the world:We are without merit. This is the forgotten pillar of the gospel. God approaches us, while we are dead in devotion to self, and by His ...
| | Matt Williams Young Man About Town CD (2007)
Crazy Coyote songs
$13.15 There have been many changes in the past year for Matt Williams: a change of scenery, a change in his way of life, oil changes, guitar strings, a couple of changes of clothes, a change in stage delivery and a slight change in the songwriting process, which for an artist is always precious and should always be constant. For the past year Matt has been a traveling songwriter, booking his own shows, driving his car, handling his promotion, setting up his stages, tearing down his stages, making phone calls, sending emails and slowly and surely, watching his progress. Not much time for sleeping. "I've seen a lot this past year and a lot of it has ended up in my songs and some of it stored for later. It may never come out but its mine. I earned it, with a little help from my friends, of course." Since June of 2005 Matt has been doing the music thing, the road thing, as a full-time job. "Before, when I lived in Austin I always had jobs and was still able to focus on ...
