Mona Attia is a singer, songwriter, performer. Mona is from Middle Eastern decent born in Cairo, Egypt. Mona was raised in the U.S. since she was 2 years old and is a citizen of the U.S.. Mona's debut CD Vision is a series of inspired songs that depict a positive vibe set to uptempo dance beats and R&B ballads. Mona's use of deep lyrics in high energy dance grooves is unique and showcased in the songs, Serenity, Destiny and Vision. The passion for her CD began with the Middle Eastern feel song "Serenity" about peace. "Serenity" is on the CD in two different versions. "Serenity" is the American version and "Serenity" has Arabic backgrounds (Al Salaam) . Mona's vision is to have Serenity translated in other languages across the globe. Mona would like to be a part of the healing solution and her lyrics in the R&B inspirational ballad "Hero" (Love your neighbor as yourself) reflect that. She also includes another inspirational song "Angel" about the death of a child as well as love ballads like "Eternal" & "Dedicate". You will also discover some groove R & B songs such as "Why" and "Loyalty" and also note a theme of one titled songs throughout the CD. Mona's heart desire is to sing with a positive message. Her dream is to one day be able to sing in the country of her heritage and feels blessed to have been raised in America. Mona realizes the power of music and wants to use it in a positive way. The human mind is a fascinating thing. We are capable of imagining a boundless universe, infinite in size as well as its opposite, the infinitesimal domain of the atom. While not as all encompassing as this, Poems For Innogen attempts to present a similar idea. Heavily electronic tracks like 'Circumstellar' and 'Full Of Stars' look out into the vastness of space, while acoustic pieces like 'Flower and Vine' and 'Dulcinea' present a more intimate, individual experience. Some of the tracks, particularly 'The Dandelion Clock', attempt to incorporate both ideas, embellishing a warm, muted piano line with distant drones. You will find elements of ambient and drone in these compositions, as well as acoustic and improvisational work. TRANSFORMATIONS AND MANIPULATIONS (released July, 2007)Total Time = 77 minutes, 36 secondsThe six pieces in this collection are audio explorations assembled from samples of various instruments. The samples were digitally transformed, manipulated and layered to produce dense sonic textures. These compositions draw their influences from the process-oriented music of Brian Eno, William Basinski, Terry Riley, Steve Reich, Tod Dockstader, Phill Niblock and David Behrman.Altered Orchestra #1, #3 and #4 are structurally set compositions and were each built from fragments of Steve's orchestral piece, Morning Star Rising, originally recorded by the Kiev Philharmonic. These works explore the deconstruction of familiar orchestral sounds through various digital audio editing techniques and also exist as the soundtracks to three video art pieces by Steve and Melissa Kornicki. Music for Altered Instruments #1 and #2 are in the same vein as the Altered Orchestra series except the manipulations focus on single instruments. 23 X 6 is assembled from the random layering of a fixed number of individual, classical guitar samples. A single compact disc with 23 individual samples was set on random shuffle mode and then recorded into a digital mixer 6 consecutive times on separate tracks. Thus, the 23 samples are each heard 6 times throughout the piece, in random order, producing various textures and combinations. This piece could also be created in a digital mixer by selecting each of the samples through some other random means such as the rolling of dice.
