Fortune Street CD music
$9.59 These songs were written in Missouri, Connecticut, Colorado, Florida, and Texas; thus the State Lines. I was influenced from music of the 1970’s and it’s reflected in the music & harmony of these 13 of my 26 original songs. I am a choir director and perform at open mikes at local bars and once a month for the Veterans at the VA hospital. I have a repertoire of 320 songs from the 60’s and 70’s. I hope you enjoy The State Lines as much as I had making it. By the way, except for the picture of me on the back cover, I took the photos and all parts of the music are by me. A Story Behind Each Song1. Song of Life- This short versionof the originalwas written on four pages. It is about the celebrationand miracle of life. 2. Dad's Song- Dedicated and inspired by my dad, Edward B. Hunter, in honor of Fathers Day. I sang this song for the 1st time in a folk group in from of the congregation at church, with my whole family present. I was glad my father was impressed; it seems to be everyone's favorite. 3. Seasons Change- The last chorus was written seperately from the rest of the song, years apart. Inspired by a co-worker that was unable to deal with the public in a retail settingat the portrait studio, where I was a professional photographer. Obviously it is a suggestion on how to deal with the frustrations at work. 4. Love You Most Of All- This song was written in 1974, in Denver, Co. waiting to finish school, then get married to Diane later that year. It was inspired by the beauty of state of residence and my state of mind.5.Beautiful Days- I wrote this song in Connecticut, the summer after I graduated High School in Missouri, before I was ever married. Sometimes I sing this song at funerals, there are many ways to lose someone. 6. Angels and Butterflies- After the passing of my wife of two years, Anita, to breast cancer, I was going through her belongings, and found many forms of angels and butterflies in stickers, books, coloring books, posters, plastics statues, and drawings. I was so excited, I sang this song for Elizabeth in a parking lot outside of work. 7. The End Of Our Blues- I wrote this song with Elizabeth in mind. We got together after each of us had lost our spouses. This is a trilogy of songs for her. As the next two songs suggest, our love has grown over time. 8. Love From Up Above- My first of three Christian songs, I sing these to myself as I walk around a local lake here in San Antonio, Texas. The music, as is usually the case, came to me after the poetry. I sing these songs at church, where I'm a choir director and open mikes in town. 9. My Personal Fox- This song reflects the love that has grown ...

Fortune Street songs
$15.19 Sing HighThe song "High Sierra" is dedicated to my old friend Jeff Miller. I made the photograph on the front cover of this CD in 1972. It's a photo of Jeff bravely peering over a high cliff near Upper Yosemite Falls. Between 1970 and 1973 we took several backpacking trips in the Sierra Nevada Mountains. At the time I was reading the book, The Mountains of California, written by John Muir. There was a line in the book where he says something like, “Come and climb the mountains to get their good tidings!” Whenever Jeff and I came upon a spectacular view of a mountain, lake, chasm or cliff, we would say, “Good tidings! Good tidings!” John Muir often referred to the Sierra Nevada as the "Range of Light." This is because he saw the snowy mountain-chain, " bathing in its glorious floods of light." Jeff and I saw this sight too and when I sing the line, "Sierra Nevada is the Range of Light," I remember how heart warming it was to share these moments with Jeff. On one of our trips we camped by a lake above the timberline. The wind was absolutely still. The lake's mirror like surface reflected the stars perfectly. The shiny ribbon of the Milky Way glowed on the still water. We picked up flat circular stones and skipped them on the lake. We said, “Hey check it out, we’re skipping stones on the Milky Way.” I was keeping a journal and before going to sleep that night I wrote the line, "Skipping stones on the Milky Way," I also pressed a few wildflowers that I had collected that day between the pages of my journal. A few months after our trip I moved to Georgia. Then in 1975, living in Marietta at the time, I got a letter from my dad telling me that Jeff had died in a hang gliding accident. I went to my travel trunk where I kept my important stuff and dug out the old journal. I leafed thru it. The wildflowers that were pressed between the pages still held their color. This surprised me. I turned to the page with the song I began back in 1973 and read the line, “Skipping stones on the Milky Way.” I thought about how brief Jeff’s life was and completed the line with, “they're up in a splash then they sink away.” I sat down with my guitar and finished the song as a tribute to the moments Jeff and I shared backpacking ...
