It still amazes me when I think back on how this whole cd began. How something so unplanned and natural turned into Moon Over Afghanistan.I was hanging with my Brother Steve in his basement apartment in a quiet suburb outside of Washington, DC. We were testing out Steve’s brand new Audiotechnica 4050 microphone. And what better way to do that than write a jam in its honor. I was feeling eager and anxious, I had already come up with a few phrases of how the jam would start off. Steve hurried setting up and hit record. 17 minutes later we looked at each other in amazement –What Was That!!! We quickly grabbed some percussion and did a second pass. And that’s what you hear on this cd today. I took the jam home and the next week wrote 5 more pieces in the Eastern Western acoustic vein. I think the piece de resistance was the incredible tabla performance by Master Mulazim Hussain. I first saw Mulazim playing in an Indian restaurant on e6th Street in the village. It was far from the best food on the street, but the place was always full of musicians who came to watch him play. What a great time it was to write a record like this! So different from anything I had ever done before. I even got my Mom to paint the front cover. I hope you feel these as much as we do.Peace,Johnny and Steve.Credits: Johnny Young – Acoustic guitar, bass, and percussionSteve Young – Acoustic guitar and percussionMaster Mulazim Hussain – tablasMonica Atell – Flute on Khyber PassRitt Henn – Upright bass on Arabian Lullaby R.I.P Mulazim Moon Over Afghanistan Music | List Price | $15.97 (You save $3.32) | | Category | Jazz Albums | | Label | CD Baby | | CD Universe Part number | 7454956 | | Catalog number | 132868 | | Discs | 1 | | Release Date | May 15, 2007 |

$15.15 UPDATE: 11-06-2004It had been a while since I logged into our CDBaby account to see how the CD is doing... I have to say I find tears in my eyes. The reviews that people have written here have truly moved my soul. Dear friends thank you for supporting us in our creative efforts. I can't tell you the joy it brings us to know that someone has made a connection with our music. I only pray that some day we can gather the funds again and make another CD...Much Love,Jeffrey & Jill DaltonLotus in the MuddORGINAL LISTING:This CD is the fruit of six years of struggling against the part of ourselves that was born and raised dependent upon material things. After six years of distraction, in only one months time, we quit our jobs, mortgaged our house, bought a small digital recording studio setup, recorded, and produced this CD! Through much sacrifice and heartache we have recorded five of our original songs, sustained only by the grace and mercy of God. We offer this as a gift from our hearts and souls to yours. We pray that through expressing our struggles in our music we can give strength and inspiration to others who are ...
| | Seeking Quiddity CD (2006)
Moon Over Afghanistan album
$12.15 Quiddity; noun; inflected forms: pl .quid-di-ties 1. The real nature of a thing; the essence. 2. A hairsplitting Distinction; a quibble. True essence, something we all search for. We do it through our relations with friends and family, or we do it through travel or art. But this is about someone who is seeking it through music. The musician is Seeking Quiddity. the name implies the inherent quest, for the real nature of one’s self. music that comes from your soul is something that can transcend the corporeal and the reality of perception and sometimes give us a tiny peek into the depths of ourselves and others. To understand one’s self is the driving force behind all of the actions of the human creature, we all desire to transcend ourselves away from the mundane and shallow and to perhaps see into our own soul. This is why we are all Seeking Quiddity. This album, self titled, Seeking Quiddity is the culmination of several years of self exploration and musical expression. Its thirteen tracks, with a few fun exceptions, are the offspring of a personal journey through the turbulent waters of a normal life. I will not try to label the music ...

Moon Over Afghanistan music CDs
$11.39 Dennis Bishop Jones, Black Irish, descended from Spanish sailors who came ashore in Ireland when the Spanish Armada was destroyed in 1588, has flamenco music in his blood. He started off playing rock’n’roll music, inspired by Elvis Presley. In 1964, at age 21, he got his hands on a blonde Mexican flamenco guitar made by Las Casas de guitarras in Paracho, Mexico. It produced such a beautiful sound with so little effort that he was inspired to play flamenco music. These recordings were made with that guitar. By 1966 he was showing his mastery of the flamenco techniques, including a new one of his own -- a continuous ...
