All The People is the fourth album by eight-member Chicago band Bumpus. The band has worked hard over the past 10 years to build a musical reputation for its solid and soulful studio albums and its breath-taking and funky live performances. This album represents a departure from their last release, Bumpus LIVE, recorded at Chicago’s Metro in 2003. “In the past, we’ve always viewed successful songwriting from the standpoint of how well the song would go over live,” Johnston explains. “We have so many up-tempo songs in our show that anything down-tempo or a little moody couldn’t compete for the audience’s attention. So with this album, we chose songs that would be enjoyable to listen to without worrying about how they will be received in a live context. We also took the songs that go over well live and gave them a new identity on record.” Bumpus’ growth is evident throughout the album with a wide range of sounds from the poppy “Yeah You” to the bombastic “Open the Door” and the meditative “Hi-Tek” and “Wasting Time.”The result is a collection of their most soulful work to date with an internal dialog about fighting to stay conscious and hopeful as dreams change or fade and the mundane creeps into one’s daily ritual. “It’s something that I always think about, both for myself or if I’m riding the train watching people,” Johnston says of this internal struggle. “And it’s true for the band as well. We’ve been a band for 10 years now, trying to realize our own dreams and make music for the love of it while hoping that we can make a career out of it as well. Being a band that long is like any job and it’s so easy to lull yourself to sleep. How do you stay in the moment? How do you stay sharp? And you have to keep asking yourself why you still do this when things are up and down.” With All the People, Bumpus asks these questions and provides some answers. | | Jay-Z The Blueprint 3 CD (2009)
All The People CD music
$15.65 On THE BLUEPRINT 3, still unretired Jay-Z announces "the only rapper to rewrite history without a pen." It's a standard Jigga boast, but the Brooklyn icon has earned the bragging by backing it up, particularly on his gold-label, top-shelf BLUEPRINT series. Ever-ready for battle, Jay-Z takes on autotune, crossover radio, and many other hip-hop concerns with the gloriously jagged rap elan for which he's become known.
When Jay-Z first made a series out of his best album, 2001's The Blueprint, it became a game of high expectations. The first volume saw Jay-Z as vital as he'd ever been, storming back to the hardcore after a few years of commercial success. THE BLUEPRINT 2 took a different tack, with guest shots to compliment his sinuous flows. BLUEPRINT 3 is somewhere between the two, closer to the vitality and energy of the original but not without the crossover bids and guest ...

| | Basheba Earth Mothership CD (2006)
All The People album
$14.79 A progressive, conscious hip-hop album, Mothership is a one-woman coup d’état on the music industry’s dominant paradigm of empty-headed beauty and vacuous lyrics. With hooks like, “Why we cuttin’ down the trees? We need air to breathe!!” Mothership blends pure emotion with critical intellect.Layers of instrumentation put together by a gamut of Denver’s finest upcoming producers prove that the Wild West has some hidden talent goldmines! Along with BaSheBa Earth’s lyrical tirades, her sultry yet fierce voice, and her tender heart for the suffering of the planet and its people, Mothership exposes Miss Earth as a spiritual artist with the power to heal as many as her dynamic music can reach. With the urgency of Dead Prez and the finesse of Lauren Hill, BaSheBa unleashes a positive message that permeates the entire album. Expressing her political views on the blazin’ BLADEZ OF TONGUE featuring the unparalleled Chuck D., the Galaktik Godess reveals the next generation’s intolerance of widespread pharmaceutical drug use and government propaganda. Using that undeniable feminine energy, Ba is reminiscent of poets like Sonya Sanchez and Ursula Rucker on Mothership’s MIXED and LIL’ WHITE MAMA, two pieces drawn from Earth’s multi-cultural experience. In GALAKTIK LUV and JUST ...
