| | Rick Moore Satisfied CD (2000)
Self Titled music CDs
$14.69 This, the second CD from Rick Moore &Mr. Lucky, simply reeks of Memphis soul and down-home blues. The CD is filled to the rim with straight-ahead rhythms, melodic hooks, stinging guitar, and Moore's throaty vocals, all melting together to form a smooth, impressive recording. Comparisons can be made to such diverse artists as J.J. Cale, Delbert McClinton, and Little Feat during the first and second listen, but by the third spin, it was obvious that Rick Moore is most assuredly his own man, with his own unique style and Southern accent.
They say 13 is an unlucky number. Not so with Mr. Lucky, whose 13 tracks herein, 11 of which were penned by Moore himself, are all winners.
"Take It Down to Memphis" rocks with some superior saxophone from guest artist Jimmy Hall and scorching slide guitar. And speaking of guests, Moore enlists a few other heavy hitters to add to the mix, including Jack Pearson, Wayne Jackson, and Jimmy Nalls.
Albert King's "I Wanta Get Funky" is one of only two cover tunes on the album, and both it and B.B. King's "Sell My Monkey" are treated to new, almost Southern rock style arrangements at the hand of Moore, who is obviously as good at producing and arranging as he is at guitar and songwriting.
On one of the album's most outstanding tracks, "Dark Before Daylight," Will Rhodarmor blows some of the meanest harp ever committed to disc, and the set opener, "Satisfied Man," is a real barnburner. Hats off to Rick Moore and Mr. Lucky for creating one super-fine blues album that is sure to leave you "satisfied." ~ Michael B. Smith
NOMINATED FOR MUSIC CITY BLUES CD OF YEAR 2000!GRITZ MAGAZINE VOTED ONE OF THE TOP 25 SOUTHERN ROCK CDS OF YEAR 2000!"Satisfied" is Rick Moore's second release, in Europe on the music net/line music label and in the usa on MRL. It follows the critically acclaimed "slow burnin' fire" (1997). "Satisfied" is a classic example of southern roots-rockin blues and soul. This recording takes you way down south, all the way to the cotton fields and the banks of the "big muddy." come on! take a ride "through the heart of the south"!Players include Rick Moore (Memphis Blues Revue, Coon Elder band), Jerry King (Mother Earth, Dobie Gray), Sam Stafford (Rascals, Artimus Pyle Band), Yim Hinkly ...

$16.45 Liner NotesGrant's music cues the imagination. I love the variety. I enjoy that I can't anticipate where the next beat is going to be. His music is suspenseful. If I were driving and listening to this I would have no idea how I got from A to B. "The Saddest of All Keys" has a warm synergy of notes and keys. Sometimes I feel like the right side of my brain is listening to it seperately from my left ...

$7.49 Nice Things People Have Said About Us:"Demise of the Good Son from Brooklyn's My Other Friend perfectly incorporates the drama of Arcade Fire with the irony of Belle and Sebastian. The 3 minute 50 second track from the The Noise in Our Heads E.P. features some amazingly fractured boy/girl harmonies and an urgent indie rock melody that will have you singing along before the halfway mark."-Christopher, The Hype Machine/My Big Mouth Strikes Again Music That Didn't Bore Me: '07BEST ALBUM THAT CALLS INTO QUESTION ONE OF MY CORE BELIEFSMy Other Friend – The Noise In Our Heads "I suspect that the following image would cause this band to throw up in its collective mouth, but when I listen to their music, I see pretty, hipster-ish girls wearing polka-dot sundresses and dancing ironically to 50’s pop music.
