| | Wire Pink Flag CD (1977) Remastered; Digipak
Gaia
$11.99 Wire: Colin Newman (vocals, guitar); Graham Lewis (vocals, bass); B.C. Gilbert (guitar); Robert Gotobed (drums). Additional personnel: Kate Lukas (flute); Dave Oberle (background vocals). Perhaps the most original debut album to come out of the first wave of British punk, Wire's Pink Flag plays like The Ramones Go to Art School -- song after song careens past in a glorious, stripped-down rush. However, unlike the Ramones, Wire ultimately made their mark through unpredictability. Very few of the songs followed traditional verse/chorus structures -- if one or two riffs sufficed, no more were added; if a musical hook or lyric didn't need to be repeated, Wire immediately stopped playing, accounting for the album's brevity (21 songs in under 36 minutes on the original version). The sometimes dissonant, minimalist arrangements allow for space and interplay between the instruments; Colin Newman isn't always the most comprehensible singer, ...
| | Horrors Strange House CD (2007) Enhanced CD
Gaia
$9.99 This is an Enhanced CD, which contains both regular audio tracks and multimedia computer files. The Horrors (UK): Faris Rotter (vocals); Joshua Von Grimm (guitar). On their singles and EPs, the Horrors proved they'd done their post-punk and freakbeat homework. With their debut album, Strange House, they push their sound forward, distill it to its rawest essence, and give it a few funhouse mirror twists and turns for good measure. Almost half of the songs on the album already appeared on previous Horrors releases, but the ever-so-slightly cleaner production here gives more definition to their black-on-black ...

| | Kathy Lowe Wishing You Peace CD (1999)
Gaia
$17.75 I am very inspired by my late Uncle Tom's song writing. I grew up singing with and around him and listening to his voice along with my dad's. I come from a family of many old Vaudeville Hams, so people were always singing and turning cart wheels down the hall. Christmas caroling was an all year round thing for us. Tom wrote a Christmas carol in the early 70's called, "What Does Christmas Mean to You?" My family still sings this song every Christmas in a cold white candlelit church in New Hampshire. I was so amazed that I could know someone who actually wrote carols, that I began writing for the season myself, in the early 80's. I love traditional carols and I still sing them. But I was yearning for some new ways to express the ...
| | Rita Taylor Out Of Blue CD (2002)
Gaia
$12.65 Although released as a soundtrack for the movie OUT OF BLUE, the CD stands on it's own as a collection of songs and a sample of Rita Taylor's diverse music writing. You'll find original songs in the style of Americana Rock to R&B, Pop and Soft Rock. The featured musicians add to the total sound and make it more than a coffeehouse version of the well-thought musical journeys. Rita sings, plays Guitars and Drums. The original idea for OUT OF BLUE was conceived more than a decade ago by Rita Taylor. It was intended to be a Rock Opera inspired by the study of Wagnerian Operas in college, and having seen the off-Broadway production of "Jesus Christ Superstar" in NYC when she was 14 years old. Although the content is not religious in nature, OUT OF BLUE has taken shape as an adapted screenplay production because of the accessibility of the cable television format available to Rita as a member of TCCC, currently known as Access Tucson. She is a long-standing member of ...
| | Vol 2-Yoakemaeyori Ruriirona Drama CD CD (2006) (Import)
$47.29 | | Alberto Barros Titan De La Salsa CD (2006)
Gaia
$10.39 Personnel: Alberto Barros (background vocals); Carlos Chivas, Junio Ruiz (vocals); Pedro Navarro (guitar); Kelvin Gutierrez (trumpet); Luis Artuz, Simon Char (piano); Alex Duque (bass guitar); Fabian Picon (congas); Emiro Santiago (bongos); Jaime Velasquez-Rayner (percussion); Alfredo Barros (programming); Diego Moran, Gustavo Ruiz (background vocals). The 2006 release from Colombian salsa king Alberto Barros, Titan de la Salsa, finds the composer/trombonist continuing his mix of gentle rhythm piano, a hot brass section, and subtle percussion in eight new tracks. "Menéate," the album's opener, is a fun, catchy song, with crisp Latin beats, an electric bass, and a short trumpet break. Barros enjoys letting the individual elements of the band take the forefront, but he does this without much use of soloing (there is the occasional brass riff that takes off for a few seconds, but that's about all), instead choosing to cut out or lower certain instruments and sounds in order to let others come through. This creates a very clean, smooth feel to the music, with its strength and passion lying in its nuance rather than in its volume. Some of the songs are clearly influenced by pop (Barros has worked ...
