(3 Customer Reviews)
A veritable three-ring circus of a rock concert, the audio/video document U.F.O.'S AT THE ZOO finds the Flaming Lips performing a gleefully over-the-top show in their hometown of Oklahoma City. Drawing largely from their acclaimed 1999 opus, THE SOFT BULLETIN, and subsequent albums, the ever-quirky alternative icons offer up plenty of spectacle (including a homemade spacecraft) as they charge through strangely uplifting tunes such as "Race for the Prize" and "Do You Realize??" Throughout the concert, frontman Wayne Coyne presides over the chaos with wide-eyed enthusiasm, with onstage antics occasionally threatening to eclipse the music. In the end, the Lips' oddball charm wins the day, though, making this a must-have release for diehard Flaming fans.
This DVD captures the over-the-top spectacle of the band's first hometown show in several years. Filmed at the Zoo Amphitheater in front of a capacity crowd of of manic furry fanatics on September 15, 2006, the concert brings a sonic and visual sensory overload.
