(5 Customer Reviews)
On their fifth full-length, PAPER WALLS, Yellowcard prove again that they are one of the more likeable and substantive bands on the punk-pop scene. In addition to the fact that they are the only punk-pop act with a violin player, Yellowcard set themselves apart from their peers by penning catchy tunes and rocking hard, but doing both with a sense of confidence born of true authenticity.
Powered by strong material and clean, muscular performances, PAPER WALLS is the sound of a young band hitting their stride. Like most pop-punk albums Yellowcard occasionally dips into sappiness, or drops in a coy, nagging chorus, but on the whole there are fewer of such moments than average, and Yellowcard's stronger moments--like the opening rocker "Take Down" or the snaky, infectious "Shrink the World"-- shine brighter.Spin (p.110) - 3 stars out of 5 -- "[T]his batch of songs is built around chugging power chords, instantly memorable choruses...[and] one of the finest violin solos you'll hear..." Alternative Press (p.169) - 3 stars out of 5 -- "PAPER WALLS delivers on all key points: Soaring hooks; crunchy pogo riffs; emo-light counterpoint vocal melodies; circular/ascending guitar/violin motifs; and vaguely life-affirming lyrics..." Yellowcard Paper Walls Songs Paper Walls Music Review Average Rating: (4.6 out of 5 stars) another great effort from yellowcard although i don't think this is quite as good as lights and sounds, this is still an excellent album. there isn't quite a song like lights and sounds on this album but it is still one to get for any yellowcard fan. Excellent I could go on and on about how amazing this album is but, im just gonna tell you the songs that i thought were the best on the album.."Dear Bobbie", "Paper Walls", "Five Becomes Four", "You and Me and One Spotlight"
Dear bobbie, is a beautiful song that i just never get tired of hearing.
Paper walls, has a great chorus and the vocals at the beggining of the song are just amazing.
Five Becomes Four has a good chorus.
You and Me and One Spotlight, kinda to me sounds like a song you would here at a high school prom.
this album overall is great.

Lights & Sounds is better progression to Ocean Avenue Don't die trying for this band when Lights & Sounds fails expectations that Ocean Avenue did. New Found Glory had critics up in arms. Where's the songcard in them? When Eve 6 failed to live up to their big hit Inside Out? Jimmy Eat World can't replicate Bleed American no more. Fall Out Boy are a mixed blessing inside and out. Blink 182 came and went and went diversifying. Offspring are ...? Well, indeed! Green Day can hold up. What's up with this offering, I guess it's cheapshot, but don't crap on me! I give it 5 stars Although this album sounded distinctively familiar to Ocean Avenue, it nonetheless remained original and retained Yellowcard's exceptional value of songs. It is easy to listen to it over and over tirelessly. In my opinion, I found it more captivating than Lights & Sounds, which was a bit boring as it progessed onto each track. Purchase Paper Walls CD To buy, Click on price to add to cart | Breaking Benjamin Saturate CD (2002)
Paper Walls album
$10.45 It's a testament to the conviction of Breaking Benjamin that two of its members quit another band already signed to a major label to join what was, commercially, much less of a sure thing. SATURATE's success proved them right, though. A melting pot of post-grunge riffs, nu-metal power, and classic rock accessibility, Breaking Benjamin offers something for ...
| | Yellowcard Lights And Sounds CD (2006)
Paper Walls CD music
$11.69 On Lights and Sounds, Yellowcard sounds light years away from its One for the Kids/Where We Stand days. Granted, the band still trades in the immediate melodies and heart-on-sleeve lyrics that they've used since the beginning, but major-label success suits them well. Lights and Sounds is even slicker and more polished than their Capitol debut, Ocean Avenue, but Yellowcard ends up sounding self-assured instead of compromised in its big-budget surroundings. "Ocean Avenue" was a genuine breakthrough single that proved that the band had a way with connecting with listeners outside of its expected fan base; on this album, Yellowcard expands on its expected sound. Songs like the title track, "Rough Landing, Holly," and "Down on My Head" are tightly crafted, state-of-the-art examples of shiny, earnest punk-pop that sounds sunny even when it's sad, but "Two Weeks from Twenty" boasts downright jazzy guitars and whimsical lyrics reminiscent of Ben Folds, while "City of Devils" is a moody power ballad that continues the album's surprisingly ...
| | My Chemical Romance Black Parade CD (2006)
Paper Walls music CDs
$9.69 On this ambitious 2006 outing, My Chemical Romance boldly follows in the footsteps of Green Day, both in working with producer Rob Cavallo and in taking a conceptual route (a la AMERICAN IDIOT). The result is an impressive collection of songs that finds the goth-leaning New Jersey punk-pop group transforming itself into the title's "Black Parade," a darkly clad marching band that relates the woeful tale of "the Patient," as portrayed ...
| | Velvet Revolver Libertad CD (2007)
Paper Walls songs
$8.99 Where CONTRABAND sounded, logically enough, like a mash-up of Stone Temple Pilots' alterna-rock angst and Guns N Roses' Rolling Stones-derived hard-rock swagger, LIBERTAD sounds much more like the work of a cohesive band with a singular vision. There are many elements of 1970s arena rock on LIBERTAD, not least in the respectful cover of the Electric Light Orchestra's "Can't Get It Out Of My Head," whose power-ballad ...

| | Rezidudes Welcome To The Suck CD (2007)
Paper Walls CD music
$9.49 The Queers are, indubitably, the best punk band ever to come out of New Hampshire. This is true because the Rezidudes are pretty much the only other punk band to come out of New Hampshire, and based on their debut album, the Rezidudes kinda suck. They would no doubt counter that the suckiness of Welcome to the Suck is entirely intentional: hence the album title. (If that phrase sounds familiar, it's the mantra from Anthony Swofford's black-comic war memoir, Jarhead.) But Welcome to the Suck sucks in a way that's perhaps not the way in which the Rezidudes intended for it to suck: the album consists of 20 covers of old pop, soul, and metal songs, focusing primarily on cheap-shot hunks of AM radio cheese like John Denver's "Take Me Home, Country Roads" and "Leaving on a Jet Plane." (Yes, these clever boys the Rezidudes have figured out what no one else has ever before realized: John Denver's music can be made fun of! In other news, beer makes you drunk!) In the right hands, this sort of thing ...

| | Maja Flava Flava Of Jamaica CD (2007)
Paper Walls CD music
$13.15 Artist Name: MAJA FLAVABirth Place: Kingston, JamaicaI was interested in music at the tender age of eight. I would go around with my father's 'sound system' and be his sidekick (Disc Jockey). I would always bring a vibe across on the microphone for all audiences. I always knew what to say to put the crowd in frenzy and I always knew what to play to get the party started. Entertaining was natural for me and it is where I am most comfortable. Music for me is life and writing lyrics is the expression that comes from deep within. At the age of 12, I went to High School and by the time I was 13, I was writing my own songs. My father's entertainment system was taken away by the police, so at the time, the only music I had was what I could create in my head and the crafty lyrics that would come from my mouth. Writing crazy metaphors was my deal and now it is sealed! I graduated from school at 18 and I formed a group named Juvenile Clan, consisting of three other artists. We performed on many 'stage shows' and at the brink of stardom when we tragically lost a member of the group. During a promotion of one of our shows, he was shot in cold blood at the gate for admitting an unknown person of suspicious character. This was a setback for all of us and we finally realized that if we wanted to do music we had to be prepared to die for what we believe. In many ways it seemed that I have died and risen many times!By the time I was 22, I met with my cousin who himself had gone through some life changing experiences. Recently separated from his family, he too had gone through a death of his own and now circumstances have brought us together. My producer and cousin, promised my mother that he would help me to get out of the ghetto and make a difference. It is to her that he lives to fulfill a promise. It is now three and a half years and as true to form, we are ready to make our impression on the world stage. We made some international ...
