Kennie DeLoatch is a contemporary troubadour who has musically chronicled his life, evolving from youthful romantic dreams to mature, passionate, soulful expressions. "Ripe" is Kennie's debut solo collection of original songs. The "Ripe" CD showcases the many different styles of music Kennie Deloatch is striving to master. As the composer, arranger and recording artist, Kennie DeLoatch is the lead vocalist, background vocalist, acoustic guitarist and bassist throughout the entire CD. His theme is that of Friendships, Love, Sorrow and Adventure. Kennie was born and raised in the small New York Hudson River Valley town of Nyack. Nyack is the home of many show business celebrities and by going to school with some of the children from these families, Kennie was inspired and encouraged to express his musical creativity. Kennie started performing in a 3rd grade talent show where he song Ray Charles' ‘Hit the Road Jack”. For the last 20 years Kennie has lived in the San Francisco Bay Area. He moved to Mendocino County, California in 1984 where he owned a catfish farm. There he tended fresh water ponds, strummed his guitar and sang his songs, entertaining friends and family. In 2006 Kennie started recording his music. He now spends his winters at his home in Mazatlan, Mexico where he has just finished recording his second album, “Butterfly Wings”, which will take you on a journey through a world of dreams, magic, and musical passion. “Butterfly Wings” will be released in July 2007.

Despite his statement in the liner notes that "In an era where it is best to play it safe, I chose to take a risk...," there isn't much surprising or risky about young guitarist Joe Bonamassa's fifth studio album. Most of his previous releases have mixed blues covers with his own originals, all played with a rocker's attitude, volume and less-than-subtle approach. This one follows suit and even though he goes on to say that he "wanted to make a blues album, not a rock album that has blues on it," as in the past; it's impossible to claim that he has succeeded with You & Me. That doesn't make this a bad or disappointing disc; quite the contrary, it's a solid blues-rock release and arguably his best work to date. But as early as the second track, an original rocker titled "Bridge to Better Days," Bonamassa takes off on an early Free/Savoy Brown-styled stomper. Things settle down and get more rootsy on the following two slow blues ...

I Was Raised On A Farm
Wild Bill Pitre I Was Raised On A Farm CD  (2006)

Phil Wight, a writer for the English Magazine “Blues & Rhythm” writes: “Wild isn’t the most orthodox guitarist around and with his thick as a stand of Kudzu vine Louisiana accent and occasional song rendered in French it’s sometimes hard to pick up on what he is singing. Sort of a roux of the Fat Possum sound hot-wired to John Lee Hooker and Joseph Spence via the swamps and rice fields. Wild doesn’t sing a song: he assaults it with violent strumming and picking and brings it to a conclusion when the mood takes him!Although it’s chaotic in patches it’s also bluesy as hell; it’s totally infectious good time music with the rough edges intact. Paul Orta holds things together on harp and perfectly complements Wild’s wayward picking.Wild’s music is a liberal mixture of Lightnin’ Hopkins influences, and I detect a trace of Juke Boy Bonner also. “Sawmill Blues” displays influences from the Louisiana style. The spirit of Jimmie Rodgers rears it’s head on “Mexican Blues” and it’s C&W all the way with “If You Miss Me”.I know it’s a tired old clichĂ© but I really thought that records like this were a thing of the past. Wild describes himself ...

“Somebody Got To Do It!” Bernie Pearl, Live at Boulevard Music, (Major Label-ML016-CD)"...one of the best blues CDs of the past two decades..."Mark S. Tucker, Folk & Acoustic Music Exchange, July, 2008"...he channels his mentors Fred MacDowell, Mance Lipscomb, and Lightnin' Hopkins into a powerful, groove-mining performance...he cranks out solo after hypnotic, zone-transporting solo...at times his playing is so intricate and so note-intensive, it actually sounds like two guitars swapping notes.Other times with all the jukin' metallic-bopping rhythms going on, it's almost as if he's accompanied by a percussionist."Dan Willging, Dirty Linen June/July 2008 (#136)“
this guy is a phenomenon
Pearl’s the real deal and then some
the ace guitarist turns in a set of performances riveting the listener with their technical finesse, jaw-dropping chops, and ungodly authenticity
I guarantee there won’t be many times in your life you’ll hear blues like this.”Mark S. Tucker, Folk & Acoustic Music Exchange, FAME.com February, 2008"...huge amounts of skill, self-confidence, and audacity - in about equal measures! ...It is good to hear that Bernie can play all these styles with ease, even nicer to note that he has assimilated more than just the instrumental prowess...this is an extremely welcome set."Norman Darwen, Blues & Rhythm, U.K.Liner notesI was fortunate to have been born into a family where the arts were appreciated. An older sister and brother were heavily into folk music as the 50’s began. I, too, picked up a guitar and started strumming. In 1958, my brother Ed opened a “coffeehouse/gallery/folk music center” in L.A. called the Ash Grove. I was privileged over the course of some 15 years to hear some of the greatest music and musicians this country ever produced. Doc Watson and Tom Ashley, Bill Monroe, Maybelle Carter, Flatt & Scruggs, the Stanley Bros. were just a few of the country greats who regularly played there. The first bluesman I saw was “ Lone Cat” Jesse Fuller, and he stole me away from folk music in that moment. I studied with Brownie McGhee, with Sonny Terry quietly riffing nearby. I got to meet and play with Sam “Lightnin” Hopkins, Mance Lipscomb, Fred MacDowell and a host of others. When Big Mama Thornton fired her guitarist on opening night, I got the gig. I led bands behind J.B. Hutto, Johnny ...
