From the days of free-styling at private parties to performing at area colleges, Damien “Yung Flint” Phillips has been sure to capture the crowd and uplift them. This outspoken individual from Mid-Michigan began a rap career at the age of 17 in a small suburb in Flint, MI. Yung Flint was known mostly for playing football and getting into trouble until he and a friend performed at his high school talent show and was able to excite a crowd of around 200 people. With smooth beats and aggressive vocals they were able to “move the crowd”. Over the years Yung Flint had to overcome several personal struggles and decided a long delayed overdue trip to Louisville, KY to stay with family would be his ideal place for relocation. After moving to Louisville Yung Flint immediately united with a group of talented musicians (Korrey “K. Matt” Mattingly, Rodney Ham, and Marquis “De Nables” Curry) who were in the early stages of writing, recording and eventually forming the Independent record label Head Bobbin’ Entertainment. Damien “Yung Flint” Phillips who has always had a savvy for business wanted to do more helped with the success of the labels first album release HBE Compilation in 2001. Once the labels first release showed signs of success Flint stayed humble and kept working hard in the studio creating classic music.
