It all began in December of 2000. Four Men Walking was conceived around the songwriting of Joel Schultz. The band came out strong in the spring of 2001 playing several acoustic based shows and releasing the LIVE cd that debuted the band's sound as an original force in the Houston area. Landing an opening gig with BLUE OCTOBER in July of 2001 allowed FMW to emerge as a true rock-based band, building on its acoustic beginnings. In late 2001, FMW released the OUTTA MY HEAD EP that played on college radio and better represented the band's sound. 2002 began a rebuilding phase for Four Men Walking.
