| | Phynix Primal Prayer CD (2004)
Legend Of The Flute Boy songs
$17.09 Phynix was born and raised in Philadelphia where his spectacular voice was recognized at an early age. He studied classical music at McGill University in Montreal majoring in vocal performance. After finalizing his university studies and subsequent training in Manhattan under soprano Eleanor Steber, world-renowned soloist of the Metropolitan Opera, he returned to Canada to begin developing his true gift of musicality. Throughout his career he has been acclaimed as a musical genius, whether playing his guitar, his drums, his piano and now, since the early 80's his MIDI instruments. (Musical Instruments Digital Interface). Using MIDI, Phynix is able to combine flavors that would need orchestras of various genres to duplicate. Currently he works with Producer John Herberman, Gold and Platinum Album winner and 3 time JUNO nominee. His music spans, combines and integrates influences from his classical background, various "world" influences and his African ancestral roots.Phynix has worked over the years in two aspects of his career. In the 70's and early 80's he was much acclaimed with his 'adult' music. During that period, the CBC produced an orchestrated album of his songs entitled "Beverly Copeland". This was soon followed by another commercial album entitled "Beverly Glenn-Copeland" on the GRT label featuring as well Doug Riley (composer, pianist and producer) and Lenny Breau (guitarist). Phynix appeared on and was the subject of many CBC television and radio shows. As well, he was a featured vocalist on albums by Bruce Cockburn and Cat Stevens. In the early 80's he released two albums on his own label entitled "Keyboard Fantasies" and "At Last". He also wrote scores for a National Film Board animated film entitled "Sea Dream", for a film entitled "Clowns" commissioned for Ontario Place and a full-length feature film entitled "Montreal Main". During ...
| | Tyrone Johnson Never Alone CD (2005)
Legend Of The Flute Boy album
$15.95 NEVER ALONE is truly a diverse collection of music. Tyrone Johnson brings to each song his love for the Lord, and his awesome musical talent. Tyrone's smooth vocal stylings have brought comparisons to such greats as Sam Cooke, Michael Franks and Al Jarreau. Intertwined with the passionate essence of jazz and a touch of traditional gospel, the authenticity he brings to each lyric makes this album a must-have in your collection. Tyrone holds nothing back on the title track, which blends personal yet universal lyrics with a mellow jazz groove to remind us of God's steadfast presence in our lives. The traditional "Blessed Assurance" doesn't fail to bring back memories of the many times it was sung in church, but it is delivered as a ballad, at a tempo that allows the listener to truly meditate on the message. But NEVER ALONE is also filled with high-energy tracks like "Shine" and "We've Got the Victory" that will keep you ...
| | Another Tragedy Beauty Of Suffering CD (2007)
Legend Of The Flute Boy CD music
$10.65 Classic Rock:"If your taste in progressive rock leans toward the Tool/A Perfect Circle/Mars Volta side of things, then this new Cincinnati quartet could be just the band for you. The Healing lulls you into a false sense of security with its low-key beginning, before it morphs into an expansive, atmospheric song complete with an extended instrumental break. Fans of latter-day Marillion will find much to enjoy here."------------Metal Hammer:"Every track does have its moments of brilliance. Another Tragedy attempt to merge Deftones with Tool, and then Opeth with early Incubus. When the approach ...

Legend Of The Flute Boy album
$17.49 This prog super-group, comprising members of the Flower Kings, Van Der Graaf Generator, and Parallel or 90 Degrees, epitomize the best aspects of the so-called Canterbury school of British spectacle. On their fourth studio album, longish, ambulatory song structures and an energetic mood provide an uplifting and engaging listen that will make older prog fans nostalgic for the 1970s, while demonstrating to younger listeners just how it's done.
Progressive rock, for the most part, has not been known for having a strong sense of humor. It was shaped, after all, by musicians who believed that if third stream jazz musicians could exalt Beethoven, Mozart, Bach, and Chopin as their idols, there was no reason why rock musicians shouldn't do the same. But Not as Good as the Book is a prog rock release that definitely has a sense of humor; in fact, humor is a vital part of this CD set. A highly conceptual effort, Not as Good as the Book is written from the perspective of aging baby boomers who lived to see the 21st century and are not happy with the ways in which the world has changed. Historically, most rock music -- from punk to rockabilly to grunge -- has been very youth-focused. But on this release, the Tangent offer the perspective of middle-aged boomers whose youthful idealism has been replaced by cynicism and pessimism -- boomers who, back in the '60s and '70s, looked forward to the future but were disillusioned after they got there. They started out optimistic and hopeful, but when the '90s and ...
