| | Denis Gauthier Between Me & You CD Denis Gauthier Discography of CDs
A driving force of Canada’s folk sensation “theBetween” Denis decided to record “Twinkle Twinkle Little Star” as a gift for his little girl… one song became seven with three originals and an album for children and parents alike.Denis plays all instruments on this album (except the girls voice on “Between You And Me”… Glenda Kitchen did that… he can’t sing THAT well). Instruments include vocals, acoustic guitar, didgeridoo, native plains flute, de’jembe, midi keys, harmonica, bass guitar, drum programming and all manner of shaky jingly things that make noise. This album has slipped under the doors and into the hearts of many parents that want their children to be exposed to a wholesome music that everyone can enjoy. It’s a rarity to find an album that truly appeals to children and parents on both levels… this album qualifies. Enjoy! | | Barefoot Jerry Barefootin'/Keys To The Country CD (2006) (Import) United Kingdom
Between Me & You songs
$17.55 For a group that never made the charts, Barefoot Jerry certainly got a lot of time in the studio, issuing half a dozen albums in the 1970s for three labels. This reissue combines their two final LPs, 1976's Keys to the Country and 1977's Barefootin', onto one CD. While the instrumentation is as assured and versatile as you'd expect from a group helmed by a top Nashville session guitarist (Wayne Moss), it's unexceptional mid-'70s period country-rock. You don't find much to heavily criticize, but neither is there anything that would incite you to recommend it with zest, even to country-rock specialists. Keys to the Country is the better and more consistent of the pair, approaching Nashville-ized Eagles territory at times (particularly "Appalachian Fever"), and offering a modestly pretty ballad with Moss' "You Can't Say It All." There's also a bit of bluegrass (a cover of Bill Monroe's "Uncle Pen") and gospel, though the R&B-tinged numbers are less successful. The R&B influence becomes heavier on the inferior Barefootin', which likewise offers proficient playing, adequate singing, and amiably upbeat, forgettable songs. At least some lyrical eccentricity came to the fore on "Hiroshima Hole," a blunt plea against nuclear energy; "Tokin' Ticket," a commentary on the variable penalties different states assign to marijuana possession (seriously!); and the bluegrass-like hoedown "Headin' for the Hills," opening with the witty couplet "everybody's headin' for the hills, had enough of welfare states and escalating bills." Wayne Moss wrote ...
| | Michael Grajek East Coast West Coast CD (2006)
Between Me & You album
$9.35 Michael GrajekA ProfileSinger-Songwriter Michael Grajek is making tracks across the country with his debut release, East Coast West Coast.Grajek began performing at age 12 in church and at school in his home state of Michigan. His powerful and expressive voice complements the premiere collection of songs that he’s co-written with pianist/collaborator Kent Marcum. The CD-release concert attracted enthusiastic crowds and established a strong fan base for the artist. His sincere and spiritual lyrics perfectly balance his style, sometimes soft and melodic, other times filled with soulful bravado. With songs and a vocal style that seem to bridge the generation gap for music fans, Grajek sings of universal themes such as family, joy, self-introspection and love. His blending of musical genres, combined with a charismatic stage presence is key to his mass appeal. It is a style he has termed “Infusionism.”East Coast West Coast features a collection of original songs as well as some American standards that showcase Grajek’s impressive talent. $ Can’t Buy You Love is an “up front” urban folk song that speaks to the dichotomy of cash. The title cut, East Coast West Coast, climbs even higher urban ground as it examines the flashy life of a rising star. It has all the makings of a perfect ‘get down’ party song with its chanting chorus and infectious rhythm. Frustrated adds a rock vibe while the guitar plays a counter melody that creates raw insistence. The CD also features tender, soulful numbers like My God, Momma and So Suddenly, which respectively embrace the power of spirituality, maternal ...
