| Against All Odds Music Review Average Rating: (3 out of 5 stars) This CD sucks! I'd think twice before actually paying for this. This is definately something probably thrown together on PC in some teenagers garage. About half of the songs are taken from other previously released CD's and only 2 of the tracks are half way decent. This is just an expensive school project. Not recommended. great beats, tight flows The kind of CD you can leave in your car and listen to the whole way through. Really like DC's voice and lyrics. Keep the music coming. Submitted by ucsdlaw (San Diego, CA) Was This Review Helpful? Yes No
DVD's sloppy. Edit something! The Cd's just alright, nothing special and nothing to write home about. I heard one of his tracks (How We Roll) on the Not Without My Five compilation and it wasn't too bad. Some white rappers just don't have it and unfortunately he's one of em'. His flows are descent, but nothing spectacular. Some latino rappers have it like Chingo Bling or Lucky Luciano and then you've got cats like Stunna & Paul Wall too. I can imagine it's not easy to put an album togethor so he deserves some credit, but some just don't got it. (The Bay w/ Celly Cel) is a re-hashed track from Celly's G-Filez. Some notable songs are #2)Against All Odds, #11) My Seniorita & #4) Where We From. DVD included isn't bad it's got some good footage of Hus, Ap9, Jacka, Celly Cel, some Thizz Nation members & others. Not a bad freshman album, but he needs some work. Submitted by chrisrobinson4 (Macramento, CA) Was This Review Helpful? Yes No

| | Industrial Monk Prophecies CD (2001) (Import)
Against All Odds
$16.59 Frederick Vogler and Takashi Kawai are the duo called Industrial Monk. Together they have combined the instrumentation and relative accessibility of 21st century ambient electronic beats with the melorhythmic richness of the Gregorian chant, which surfaced circa 600. The chants by the Los Angeles Chamber Singers are in Latin (as are all Gregorian chants) and are set against drum and loop programming by Kawai, the guitar of Goffrey Moore, and Mark Jones' bass. The practical art of the Gregorian chant is a marvel to hear in this setting, since both techno and chants can get monotonous when overdone or devoid of harmonious connotations. However, this fusion is brilliantly placed in the musically satisfying arrangements of "Ave Maria," "Vide Domine," "Salve Regina," "Beata Dei Genitrix," ...

He's joined by Ice, the Game, producer Rick Rock, and a host of others on gritty, cinematic tales of ghetto life, leavened with touches of humor and masterful, R&B-flecked musicality. | | Satisfaction CD (1971) Bonus Tracks
Against All Odds
$18.09 A delightful reminder of the days when progressive rock and jazz seemed destined to forge a lifelong partnership, Satisfaction was the 1971 debut album by the latest incarnation of veteran trumpeter Mike Cotton's Mike Cotton Sound, fed through a name change (and logo) that must surely have had the Rolling Stones looking twice. Teaming up with producer David Hitchcock and fronted by vocalist Lem Lubin (ex-Unit 4+2), the brief appeared to be to follow the early path of Chicago and Blood, Sweat & Tears, but with sufficient space left over for a few more idiosyncratic diversions. And overall it works, at least within the so-subjective parameters of period jazz-rock, a genre that rarely scaled the peaks it deserved to, but never quite sank to the depths that it was ...
