| | R Kelly Untitled CD (2009)
vs Tip CD music
$11.18 After his aborted, internet-leaked 2008 album, 12 PLAY: 4TH QUARTER, R. Kelly busied himself with guest spots for Beyonce, T-Pain, and Kanye West, even offering a free download on iTunes, "I Believe," inspired by the election of president Barack Obama. While such moves insured that Kelly would never stray far from the R&B throne he's occupied for more than a decade, his 2009 reboot of 12 PLAY, UNTITLED, should provide more than enough reason for fans to keep coming back for more. From Auto Tune-laden crowd pleasers like "Outta the Game" and "Crazy Night" to rousing club-oriented numbers like "Echo," Kelly downplays the slower "baby-making" jams this time around for a set of largely up-tempo songs, capped by a sultry collaboration with Keri Hilson ("Number One").

| | Pink Funhouse CD (2008) Explicit
vs Tip music CDs
$8.99 Pink's insistently hooky, attitude-filled pop-rock has kept the singer a fixture on the radio and on singles charts since the early 2000s. The artist's fifth effort, FUNHOUSE, doesn't tamper with the formula: Pink's powerhouse vocals and in-your-face approach, backed by stadium-sized production, are in full effect on all 12 tracks. Even though the album deals primarily with aftermath of her divorce and includes serious moments of self-confrontation like "Sober," fans needn't worry that Pink has lost ...

| | Jay-Z The Blueprint CD (2001)
vs Tip CD music
$10.45 THE BLUEPRINT was nominated for the 2002 Grammy Award for Best Rap Album. "Izzo (H.O.V.A.)" was nominated for the 2002 Grammy Award for Best Rap Solo Performance.
"Song Cry" was nominated for the 2003 Grammy Awards for Male Rap Solo Performance.
It's official. With his fifth album, aptly titled THE BLUEPRINT, Jay-Z has crowned himself the king of rap music. Laying a foundation for other MC's to follow, Jay Hova presents a lyrical masterpiece. And to make matters worse (for the competition, that is), he does so over a selection of the tightest beats (Jus Blaze, Timbaland) to come by hip-hop since fellow Brooklyn-ite Notorious B.I.G. changed the game. Jay-Z sets it off with a clear and concise statement of his purpose, "The Ruler's Back." From then on, each track dares rappers who tried to test his skills to answer back this time. There's also the cleverly worded (sort of a) love song "Girls, Girls, Girls," where Jay calls out every type of woman in the book. He limits the guest appearances ...

vs Tip songs
$26.95 Heard Ya Missed Me, Well I'm Back, Sly Stone's ninth album for Epic, features a reunited Sly & the Family Stone. Sly's previous album, the funk-filled High on You (1975), had been a solo effort. The sentiment here sure seems inviting -- Sly optimistically reuniting with his group in an aim to recapture the magic of his late-'60s prime -- yet the result is sadly disappointing. ...

| | Les Is More CD (2008)
vs Tip album
$12.69 Les epitomizes the musical artist triple threat: he is vocally gifted, he writes memorable songs and he puts on an enthralling live show. He has only just begun to discover where these talents will take him.Les (Lester Hussie) was born and raised in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. He grew up listening to the sounds of Jay-Z, Biggie Smalls and Philly Mo-Town. Les’ musical training began at age four with classical piano. He performed in numerous talent shows and with school and church choirs, figuring out early that music was his passion. At age eleven, Les added voice lessons to his training. Soon after, dance lessons were also incorporated. Throughout middle and high school he became involved in musical theater, predominantly performing at Philly’s New Freedom Theatre. During this time, Les maintained a steady interest in Hip-Hop and R&B music, often copying dance moves from the music videos he watched on MTV and BET. His affinities for the genre lead him to begin writing songs at around age fourteen. Growing up, Les was inspired by the lyricism, performance ability and emotion of Beyonce, Naz, Mariah Carey, Madonna and Lauren Hill.As high school neared an end, Les decided to make performing his career goal. He auditioned and was accepted into the University of Miami’s Frost School of Music. Rather than choosing to academically pursue only classical piano, he decided to combine his piano education with an education in the music business. While at UM, Les has performed in several ensembles including the Civic Corale, R&B Ensemble and Maelstrom (The Men’s Chorus). He also ...
