| Pat Moran Quartet Music Review Average Rating: (5 out of 5 stars) While At Birdland 'While At Birdland is the actual title of this cd. This is the second lp that the short lived Pat Moran Quartet recorded.
The unusual quartet led by Moran include; Pat Moran on piano and vocal, John Doling on bass and vocal, John Whited on drums and vocal, and Bev Kelly as featured solo vocalist. On some mumbers they are assisted by Sam Most, Burt Colins, Dick Meldonian, Earl Swope, Oscar Pettiford, Tony Ortega and Nat Pierce (as conductor). Some tunes are instrumental by the piano trio (Jordu, I Can't Get Started). On some of the tunes the vocal quartet is backed by the larger formation (Thou Swell, Mother Machree). Two songs are a solo feature for Bev Kelly (Lover Man, Lullaby of the Leaves) and so on. A very varied program.
Pat Moran is very impressive pianist, who a few years after this recording was made played with Terry Gibbs. Submitted by jrnslaets (Belgium) Was This Review Helpful? Yes No

Pat Moran Quartet
$6.75 A surprise best-seller when it was first released, this mostly improvised pairing of singer/keyboardist/producer Al Kooper with two major guitar heroes of the day sounds fascinating all these years later precisely because of the distance of time--nobody makes records like this any more. The material runs the gamut from folk pop (covers of Donovan and Dylan), to blues ("Albert's Shuffle," "You Don't Love Me"), to heady jams ("His Holy Modal Majesty"), to big-band jazz ("Harvey's Tune").
All the tunes make effective templates for the kind off-the-cuff music-making that in less capable hands might have resulted in simple noodling. In fact, although Bloomfield and Stills don't play together on any of the cuts (Bloomfield played on one side of the original LP, Stills on the other), all three principals get off lots of good ...

| | MAD SKILL Got Skill CD (2005)
Pat Moran Quartet
$10.15 MAD SKILL stands for Music Apologetically Directed Scriptural Knowledge In Lyrical Language. All of the music that MAD SKILL creates derives from his intensive study of the biblical scriptures from those 40 writers of the 66 books that comprise the Bible. MAD SKILL effectively uses poetry combined with hip hop based beats to convey his message of spreading the message of Jesus Christ. "It is hard to find a Christian artist that uplifts the name of Christ in an intelligent way while being able to hold down a mic. That doesn't just take skill...that takes mad skill!" - Minister Charles Henderson, founder of The Koinonia House. MAD SKILL unleashed his debut CD entitled "Got Skill" which was independently released on June 30, 2005. Before he became known as MAD SKILL, Kenny Wright used to be heavily involved in underground hip hop, he has done radio drops for college radio stations and has worked with groups such as Me and My cousin and Garfield from the hit R&B group Shai. After rededicating his life to Christ, Kenny Wright decided to leave the underground hip hop scene and refocus on Christ and the ministry that God has intended for him. "Got Skill" is the debut album for MAD SKILL, an artist that has been rhyming and creating music since the early age of ten. Co-producing the album "Got Skill" is Andrew Ford, an artist that is well ...

These stories were originally broadcasted on National Public Radio as KIDS RADIO THEATER and it was the most listened to Children's Radio Program.Hosted and performed by the versatile and funny Jay Lynch and Gary Wayne, these 30-minute programs are smart, updated versions of classic fairy tales told in musical theatre style, complete with five full-length musical numbers in each episode. Each tale introduces a different musical style and has been modernized with a special twist to reflect today's values, while still packing an entertaining punch. The lively music, outrageous characters and extraordinary quality all work to make KIDS RADIO KLASSICS a captivating experience in the home or car.Veteran children’s theatre performer, writer and director Jay Lynch rewrites the stories. Lynch's take on fairy tales is told from the point of view of the characters living the stories rather than an outsider reporting on the events. "This makes for a more comical and entertaining story. We all know how Cinderella, Little Red Riding Hood and all the "good-guys" feel, but what about the Wolf, Cinderella's ...
