Fans of Korn's blend of alt-metal and hip-hop, first unleashed with their 1994 self-titled debut, have been waiting to see if, well into the mid-2000s, the band would return to their classic sound. Those fans may be alternately pleased and frustrated by 2007's UNTITLED, which finds the quintet moving between the electronic textures of SEE YOU ON THE OTHER SIDE and the heavier, darker sound of their early work.
Despite line-up changes and stylistic experiments, Korn still deliver their trademark power chord riffage and angsty vibe, typified by the lyrics and vocal delivery of Jonathan Davis. The crunching opener "Starting Over" is a case in point, whereas tunes like "Do What They Say" show a more progressive tendency. The production, with overdubs and digital flourishes, is polished and professional, making Korn sound slightly more mainstream than they have in the past. While not an inspired leap ahead, UNTITLED shows a band reconciling their past sound with an attempt to evolve, the ultimate success of which is up to the band's legion fans to decide.

$5.55 (MP3 Available for Download) CARNIVAL OF SOULS is the last studio recording with Bruce Kulick and Eric Singer before the return of original members Ace Frehley and Peter Criss.
Despite a 1996 press conference on the U.S.S. Intrepid that announced Bruce Kulick and Eric Singer were on a "paid temporary vacation," the two were dismissed months later after a reunion tour of the original make-up clad members proved wildly successful. As the sub-heading states, CARNIVAL OF SOULS is the last recorded efforts of Kulick and Singer with Gene Simmons and Paul Stanley. Drawing on music trends started as far back as the ...

$15.95 (MP3 Available for Download) Recorded between 1974 & 1983. Includes liner notes by David Wild.
Epic/Legacy's double-disc set The Ultimate Kansas pretty much fulfills the promise of its title. Although it doesn't delve into the group's latter-day recordings for MCA and other labels, that's not a problem because most listeners -- whether they're fairweather or dedicated fans -- will want to concentrate on the group's peak in the '70s, which is precisely what this does. Over the course of 26 tracks, all the hits and album-oriented radio staples are featured, usually in their full-length album versions, plus a number of fan favorites and key album tracks that help draw a full picture of what the group did. The remastered, expanded single-disc of The Best of Kansas remains the best bet for the casual fan, ...

| | Jason Whited Big Time CD (2007)
Untitled songs
$18.95 Jason Whited’s blend of honky-tonk, country, and a hint of bluegrass is enjoyable, reminiscent of days sitting on the back porch with friends foot-tapping and singing along with the chorus. Delivering a range of delicate, smooth vocals, Whited draws similarities between George Strait, Clint Black and even Garth Brooks. The melodies on Big Time are catchy and uplifting, leaving the listener humming along to a string of strong tales of uplifting experiences and positive turnarounds. Spending his days as a teacher and nights as a musician, Jason Whited has come into his own with his sophomore CD, Big Time, and his debut single-song release, Big Time, reached the No. 1 spot on the TOP 100 ECMA Country chart and grabbed the number 1 spot on the EURO TOP 40 Most Played chart. With almost two decades of performing and recording experience backing his hard-work and diligent efforts while pursing a music career, Whited has pulled out all the stops! Big Time is exactly that—it has all the expected ingredients of a Big Time production; jam-packed with the unmistakable sound of Nashville’s finest musicians playing top-quality songs, all orchestrated by band leader extraordinaire Joe Spivey, a multi-talented musician who is considered one of the best fiddle players on Music Row and a fourteen-year member of the John Anderson band. Whited, a self-admitted perfectionist, worked diligently alongside George Clinton, and together they produced an album they are both extremely proud of. “It’s a winner,” George remarked. Jason agreed—Big Time is all he had hoped, and dreamed it would be! Perhaps this high school teacher from Middle Tennessee, with a voice that’s been described time after time as “pristine”, who clearly enjoys singing—has his site set on the Big Time in a big way. One thing is for certain… by no means is the singer making a trite statement when he says, “I hope you enjoy the music as much as I enjoy bringing it to you.” Jason Whited is a stylist in the truest sense, and the emotion and confidence his vocals exude while bringing listeners his music is up-lifting and down-right refreshing.“Big Time is a collection of strong tunes impeccably executed!”Whited co-wrote the title-track, “Big Time” as well as “I Went Down To Nashville”, “Wrong Thing Right”, “Lyin’ Together”, and self-penned “I Know I’m Goin’ To Heaven”. Jason’s former J T Country Acoustic Duo partner, Tom Lamb wrote “I Forgot To Thank Her”. After hearing the demo of “Let Me Down Easy”, Jason contacted co-writers Scott Allen Metro and Don Paul Moore and said, “This is a terrific country ballad, it has all the qualities of a classic traditional standard, I’d really like to cut it.” Whited is proud to be the first artist to record “Steady As She Goes” co-written by Terry Brown and Aaron Tippin, and also “Love ...
